The main island belongs to the state of Pernambuco and is famous for its extraordinary nature and magnificent beaches.

The archipelago consists of 21 islands and rocks, although only the main island is permanently inhabited.
Because of its unique landscape and exceptional biodiversity, Fernando de Noronha and the nearby Atol das Rocas were declared a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Crystal-clear turquoise waters surround the island and provide excellent conditions for swimming and diving.
Below the surface lies an impressive underwater world filled with corals, colourful fish, sea turtles and dolphins.
The island is particularly famous for its large groups of spinner dolphins, which can often be seen in the surrounding waters.
One of the most spectacular beaches is Baía do Sancho, frequently described as one of the most beautiful beaches in the world.
Visitors reach it by descending a steep staircase through narrow openings in the cliffs, but the effort is rewarded with breathtaking views.
Baía dos Porcos is another wonderful place, with small coves, natural rock pools and a magnificent view of the famous Dois Irmãos.
These two striking rock formations are among the best-known landmarks of Fernando de Noronha.
The island is also an important protected area for sea turtles, which come ashore to lay their eggs.
With a little luck, visitors can observe sea turtles and colourful tropical fish while snorkelling in the clear waters.
The vegetation is surprisingly diverse and is strongly influenced by the island’s tropical climate.
Alongside palm trees and lush greenery, there are also dry landscapes and impressive volcanic rock formations.
Another landmark is Morro do Pico, which rises to about 321 metres and is the highest point of the archipelago.
From several viewpoints, visitors can enjoy spectacular panoramas of the Atlantic Ocean and the rugged coastline.
The sunsets are particularly beautiful, as the sky over the ocean is transformed into warm and glowing colours.
The island’s history goes back several centuries and is closely connected with the Portuguese exploration of Brazil.
Over the centuries, Fernando de Noronha served, among other things, as a prison island and military base.
Today, however, protecting its fragile natural environment is the main priority.
The number of visitors is limited in order to preserve the unique ecosystem as sustainably as possible.
A visit to the island is therefore much more than an ordinary beach holiday; it is an encounter with an extraordinary natural landscape.
Hiking, snorkelling, diving and boat trips are among the most popular activities.
These experiences allow visitors to discover the beauty of the island both above and below the water.
The views from Mirante dos Irmãos and Mirante do Boldró are also unforgettable.
Fernando de Noronha combines pristine nature, turquoise waters and fascinating wildlife in a truly unique way.
It is a paradise for anyone who wants to combine tranquillity, adventure and spectacular scenery.
After experiencing its beaches, cliffs and crystal-clear waters, it is easy to understand why Fernando de Noronha is considered one of Brazil’s greatest natural treasures.

The village of Jericoacoara is located in the state of Ceará in the northeast of Brazil and is considered one of the most beautiful beach destinations in South America. The former fishing village lies about 300 kilometers west of the city of Fortaleza and is surrounded by a large protected natural area with dunes, lagoons, and endless sandy beaches. For a long time, Jericoacoara was difficult to reach because the last kilometers could only be traveled on sandy tracks. This remote location helped the village preserve its original charm. Today Jericoacoara is part of the Parque Nacional de Jericoacoara, known for its unique landscape. The high sand dunes rising directly behind the village are especially impressive. From the famous Duna do Pôr do Sol, visitors can watch a spectacular sunset over the ocean every evening. This view attracts travelers from all over the world and is one of the most famous sights of the area. Another landmark is the rock formation Pedra Furada, a natural stone arch shaped by wind and waves. Nearby there are also beautiful freshwater lagoons such as Lagoa do Paraíso, whose clear water and white sand look like the Caribbean. Jericoacoara is very popular with windsurfers and kitesurfers because the wind conditions are ideal almost all year round. Despite growing tourism, the village has kept its relaxed atmosphere. Most streets are sandy, and large hotel complexes are not allowed in the center. Instead, visitors find small guesthouses, restaurants, and bars with Brazilian music. In the evening, locals and tourists gather on the beach to watch the sunset. Jericoacoara is now considered one of the most beautiful destinations in Brazil and a place where nature, relaxation, and adventure come together perfectly.

A must-see attraction is the Ver-o-Peso Market, one of the largest open-air markets in South America, offering exotic fruits, spices, herbs, and medicinal plants. Here, the true spirit of the Amazon comes alive. Along the river, the renovated Estação das Docas waterfront features restaurants, bars, and cultural events. Belém is also famous for its cuisine, strongly influenced by Amazonian flavors—dishes such as Tacacá, Pato no Tucupi, and Açaí are regional icons. Every October, the Círio de Nazaré religious festival attracts millions of pilgrims, making it one of the largest Catholic processions in the world. Despite the tropical heat and humidity, Belém has a unique charm that captivates visitors. The combination of colonial heritage, indigenous influence, and Amazonian nature makes the city a truly unforgettable experience.

Belém, the capital of the state of Pará, is not only the gateway to the Amazon, but also a growing center for international events. One of the most important is the COP 30 Conference. This is the 30th edition of the Conference of the Parties, a decision-making body of the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). This event brings together governments from almost all over the world to implement UN climate treaties. It is considered one of the most important global events to discuss the climate crisis.
This event focuses on sustainable development, climate protection, and innovations in the Amazon region. Every year, scientists, authorities, business people, and environmental experts from around the world gather. The conference serves as a platform for the exchange of ideas and projects aimed at preserving the forest and improving living conditions in the region. Among the main themes are renewable energies, biodiversity, and the rights of indigenous peoples. With its strategic location and cultural diversity, Belém offers the ideal setting for this international meeting. COP 30 has become an important symbol of the global dialogue on climate change. To learn more about COP 30, click here.

As cidades históricas de Minas Gerais/Die historischen Städte von Minas Gerais/The historic cities of Minas Gerais

The historic cities of Minas Gerais are among Brazil’s greatest cultural treasures and attract countless visitors each year who retrace the steps of the gold and diamond era. Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Diamantina and Congonhas preserve the memory of the colonial period in an impressive way. Their majestic churches, squares and mansions testify to the wealth, faith and artistic creativity of the time.

Ouro Preto was once the most important gold city of the 18th century and even served as the provincial capital. Its narrow, steep cobblestone streets are lined with baroque churches, including the world-famous Church of Saint Francis of Assisi, designed by the genius sculptor Aleijadinho. The city as a whole is a unique architectural ensemble and a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Today, many old houses host museums, craft shops and charming guesthouses.

Tiradentes, in contrast, is smaller and quieter, but equally enchanting. Named after the national hero Joaquim José da Silva Xavier, known as Tiradentes, the town retains an unmistakable colonial charm. The Main Church of Santo Antônio, richly decorated with golden carvings, is considered one of the most beautiful in Brazil. Its cobbled streets convey the calm atmosphere of centuries past, while restaurants and art studios add a welcoming contemporary flair.

Diamantina, as its name suggests, flourished during the diamond boom. Also recognized by UNESCO, it fascinates with its white houses with blue windows, harmoniously set against the hilly landscape. It was here that the famous singer Chica da Silva lived, whose story reflects both the wealth and the inequalities of the time. The serenades still performed in its streets give Diamantina a romantic and musical character.

Congonhas, finally, is renowned for the Sanctuary of Bom Jesus de Matosinhos, also listed by UNESCO. Here, Aleijadinho created his famous soapstone sculptures of the twelve prophets, considered the pinnacle of Brazilian baroque sculpture. In addition to the statues, the chapels depicting the Passion of Christ complete the ensemble’s striking impact. Together, Ouro Preto, Tiradentes, Diamantina and Congonhas form a living museum of Brazil’s colonial period. Visiting these cities means traveling back in time to an era of contrasts: wealth and exploitation, art and oppression, faith and power. Today, they are places of cultural memory where past and present meet in a powerful way.

Savannas, sand dunes, crystal-clear rivers, and majestic waterfalls come together to create a setting that fascinates both adventure-seekers and nature lovers. The area is famous for its fervedouros – natural springs where water pressure keeps visitors afloat, offering a sensation of weightlessness. Far from mass tourism, Jalapão offers authentic interactions with locals, traditional crafts, and sustainable travel experiences.
