Porto, a Rainha do Norte de Portugal

A primeira imagem que sempre veio a minha mente quando pensava em Porto, era a vista da Ponte Luís I (une Porto à Vila Nova de Gaia) com o rio Douro e os antigos sobrados coloridos com roupas penduradas nas sacadas. Esse é o cenário mais famoso de Porto fotografado por milhões de turistas que a visitam anualmente. Além disso, Porto, a segunda cidade de Portugal, é conhecida também por ser o lugar de origem do delicioso vinho do Porto. Ela possui aproximadamente 300 000 habitantes e o berço do Infante D. Henrique, o Navegador, principal promotor dos descobrimentos marítimos portugueses. O centro histórico de Porto integra a lista do Patrimônio Mundial da Humanidade da UNESCO.

Chegamos a Porto numa manhã ensolarada, guardamos a bagagem em um hotel muito bem localizado na Praça da Batalha e fomos fazer o passeio no ônibus turístico Hop on Hop off. Falando nesse tipo de transporte, aproveito para sugerir o uso desse tipo de ônibus no primeiro dia, pois é uma forma de nos orientarmos e também se ter uma visão geral da cidade. Aliás, essa é uma dica que pode ser usada em outras cidades.

A cidade é constituída pela parte alta e pela baixa. É nessa área onde está localizado o Cais da Ribeira com a famosíssima Praça da Ribeira, cartão postal do Porto, local com muitos bares e restaurantes. O Cais da Ribeira em Porto está para a Torre Eiffel em Paris. A melhor vista do Cais da Ribeira se tem do outro lado da ponte, na cidade de Vila Nova de Gaia. Nessa cidade, na parte conhecida como Ribeira de Gaia, há um agradável calçadão atrativo para caminhadas, há venda de artesanato e também se encontra o acesso ao teleférico de Gaia. Aliás, recomendo a todos que visitarem Porto, usar esse teleférico, pois a vista é linda! Nesse lado da ponte, em Gaia, existem muitas caves, local onde o vinho do Porto envelhece e é comercializado. É possível fazer belas fotos com os barcos rabelos, hoje usados para promover caves, que transportavam o vinho das quintas onde era produzido no Alto do Douro até as caves de Gaia.

Depois de passear por essa área, o visitante pode voltar caminhando, pela parte superior da ponte Luís I e a partir daí subir para a Cidade Alta usando o funicular, que se localiza do lado esquerdo, no final dessa caminhada.

Porto é uma cidade que tem belas igrejas, dentre elas, a Igreja de São Francisco, com seu altar em talha dourada. As igrejas de Santa Catarina e Santo Idelfonso tem as fachadas revestidas de azulejos, são exemplares arquitetônicos de grande beleza. A Sé Catedral com seu altar de prata e o claustro gótico é imponente e suntuosa.

São muitos os atrativos para se visitar em Porto. Além do conjunto arquitetônico monumental do seu centro histórico, destacam-se alguns atrativos especiais como a livraria Lello com seu interior ”Art Nouveau” magnífico. O Café Majestic atrai muitos visitantes pela sua beleza. Outro prédio que vale a visita é o Palácio da Bolsa, também muito interessante, o Salão Árabe desse prédio é espetacular. A estação ferroviária de São Bento tem um conjunto de azulejos belíssimos. A Torre dos Clérigos é visita obrigatória para quem está na cidade.

O bom mesmo, é sair da parte alta e caminhar lentamente em direção ao Cais da Ribeira, apreciando o casario antigo com seus belos azulejos.

Porto também tem uma nova área de negócios, é uma área com construções novas e merece destaque para a Fundação Serralves com o Museu de Arte Contemporânea e a Casa da Música.

Se você gosta de festas juninas, vale pena conhecer as celebrações em homenagem a São João, padroeiro de Porto, a noite entre os dias 24 e 25 junho é muito animada, a festa não tem hora para começar e nem terminar, é uma das maiores festas da Europa!

Além de ser uma cidade muito interessante, Porto tem pessoas simpáticas, clima agradável na primavera, começo do verão, boa gastronomia (a maioria dos restaurantes abrem suas portas as 19:30, fecham cedo e recomendo fazer reserva no período de alta estação turística) e também pode servir de base para visitar outros atrativos nas redondezas como as cidades de Guimarães, Aveiro, por exemplo. Há tours de um dia para visitar a região vinícola do Douro, mas isso é assunto para outro post.

Porto, definitivamente é uma cidade que recomendo visitar, vou voltar!

PORTO – DIE KÖNIGIN IM NORDEN PORTUGALS

Wenn ich an Porto denke, erscheinen mir immer sofort der Blick auf die Luis-Brücke mit dem Douro Fluss und die alten bunten Häuser mit Wäsche auf den Balkonen hängend. Dies ist das berühmte Szenario von Porto fotografiert von Millionen von Touristen, die es jedes Jahr besuchen. Porto, die zweitgrößte Stadt Portugals ist darüber hinaus berühmt als der Ursprungsort des köstlichen Portweines. Es hat etwa 300.000 Einwohner und es ist der Geburtsort von Prinz Heinrich, Seefahrer und wichtigster Förderer der portugiesischen maritimen Entdeckungen. Das historische Zentrum von Porto ist Bestandteil der Liste des UNESCO-Welterbes.

Wir kamen an einem sonnigen Morgen in Porto an, wir ließen unser Gepäck in einem sehr gut gelegenem Hotel in Batalha und wir unternahmen sofort eine erste Tour in einem „Hop on Hop off“ Bus. Dies verschafft uns immer einen ersten Überblick und dient als erste Orientierung in einer neuen, uns noch fremden Stadt.

Die Stadt besteht aus der Ober- und Unterstadt. Dort ist auch das Kai Cais da Ribeira mit dem berühmten Platz Praça da Ribeira, die Postkartenansicht von Porto mit vielen Bars und Restaurants. Die Cais da Ribeira in Porto ist wie der Eiffelturm in Paris. Die beste Sicht auf die Cais da Ribeira hat man von der Brücke in der gegenüberliegenden Stadt Vila Nova de Gaia. In dieser Gemeinde, teilweise bekannt als Ribeira de Gaia, lädt eine schöne Promenade zum Bummeln ein, es wird Kunsthandwerk feilgeboten und hier befindet sich auch der Zugang zur Seilbahn Gaia, sehr empfehlenswert mit toller Aussicht! Auf dieser Seite der Brücke, in Gaia, gibt es viele Weinkeller, in denen der Wein gelagert und vermarktet wird. Sie können hier schöne Fotos mit den Rabelo Booten machen, heute zu Werbezwecken verwendet, ehemals dazu genutzt, um den Wein von den Winzereien in Douro Alto zu den Gaia Weinkellern zu transportieren.

Vom Ende der Seilbahn oben oder auf der anderen Seite des Flusses gleich neben der Brücke mit der Zahnradbahn erreichen Sie wieder bequem die Oberstadt.

Porto ist eine Stadt mit schönen Kirchen, darunter z.B. die Kirche St. Francis mit seinem vergoldeten Altar. Die Kirchen Santa Catarina und Santo Idelfonso zeigen fantastisch veredelte Fliesenfassaden, architektonische Beispiele von großer Schönheit. Der Dom mit seinem silbernen Altar und dem gotischen Kreuzgang ist imposant und opulent.

Es gibt viele Sehenswürdigkeiten in Porto. Neben dem monumentalen architektonischen Komplex des historischen Zentrums, gibt es einige besondere Attraktionen wie z.B. die Lello Buchhandlung, innen verziert im Stile des “Art Nouveau”. Auch das Café Majestic ist wegen seiner Schönheit ein Publikumsmagnet. Weiterhin besuchenswert ist der Palacio da Bolsa und der „Salão Árabe“ (die arabische Halle), spektakulär! Der Bahnhof von São Bento besticht durch schöne Wandfliesen, der Turm Torre dos Clérigos ist wegen seiner Aussicht ein Muss für jeden Besuch.

Lohnenswert ist ein Spaziergang von der Oberstadt in Richtung Cais da Ribeira, um die alten Häuser mit ihren schönen Fliesen genießen zu können.

Porto verfügt über ein neues Business Area mit neuen Gebäuden, bemerkenswert die der Serralves Stiftung, dem Museum für zeitgenössische Kunst und das Haus der Musik.

Falls Sie Juni-Festivals mögen, dann lohnen sich die Feierlichkeiten zu Ehren von São João , dem Schutzpatron von Porto, das immer in der Nacht vom 24. auf den 25. Juni stattfindet, eines der grössten und lebhaftesten Feste in ganz Europa!

Porto gefällt durch seine freundlichen Menschen, das schöne Wetter im Frühling, Frühsommer, sein gutes Essen und die Weine (die meisten Restaurants öffnen ihre Türen 19:30 Uhr und schließen früh, in der Hochsaison Tischreservierung empfehlenswert). Porto kann auch als Basis für Ausflüge dienen, um andere Attraktionen in der Regio zu besuchen wie z.B. die Städte Guimaraes oder Aveiro. Es gibt auch Eintagestouren in die sehr lohnenswerte Weinregion Douro, aber das ist Thema für einen anderen Blog-Beitrag.

Was bleibt, Porto ist definitiv eine Stadt, die einen Besuch sehr sehr lohnt! Ich werde wiederkommen!

PORTO – THE QUEEN IN THE NORTH OF PORTUGAL

When I think of Porto always appear immediately the view onto the Luis Bridge with the Douro river and the old colorful houses with laundry hanging on balconies. This is the famous scenario of Porto photographed by millions of tourists who visit it every year. Porto, the second largest city of Portugal is also famous as the origin of the delicious port wine. It has about 300,000 inhabitants and it is the birthplace of Prince Henry, sailor and most important patron of the Portuguese maritime discoveries. The historic center of Porto is part of the list of the UNESCO World Heritage.

We arrived on a sunny morning in Porto, we left our luggage in a very well located hotel in Batalha and we immediately undertook a first tour on a “hop on hop off” bus. This gives us always a first overview and serves as a first orientation in a new and for us so far unknown City.

The town consists of the upper and lower town. There is also the pier Cais da Ribeira with the square Praça da Ribeira, the postcard view of Porto with many bars and restaurants. The Cais da Ribeira in Porto is like the Eiffel Tower in Paris. The best view onto the Cais da Ribeira you have from the bridge from the opposite town of Vila Nova de Gaia, often just called Ribeira de Gaia. There the beautiful promenade alongside the river invides for strolling around, handy-crafts are offered for sale and here is also the access to the Gaia cable car, highly recommended with great views! On this side of the bridge, in Gaia, there are many wine cellars where the wine is stored and marketed. Here you can take beautiful photos with the Rabelo boats, used for advertising purposes today, formerly used for the transport of wine from the wineries in Douro Alto to the Gaia winecellars.

From the end of the cable car on the top or from the other side of the river next to the bridge on the cog railway the upper town of Porto can be reached easily again.

Porto is a city with beautiful churches as e.g. the church Igreja de São Francisco with its gilded altar. The churches of Santa Catarina and Santo Idelfonso show fantastic coated tile facades, architectural examples of great beauty. The cathedral with its silver altar and the gothic cloister is impressive and opulent.

There are many attractions in Porto. Beside the monumental architectural complex of the historic center there are some special attractions such as the Lello bookshop, the interior decorated in the style of “Art Nouveau”. Also the Café Majestic is a prime attraction for its beauty. Furthermore the Palacio da Bolsa is worth a visit and the “Salão Árabe” (Arabic Hall), spectacular! The train station of São Bento has beautiful wall tiles, the Clérigos Tower is a must to visit because of its view.

Worthfile is a walk from the upper town downwards to the piers Cais da Ribeira to enjoy the old houses with their beautiful tiles.

Porto also has a new business area with new buildings, remarkable that ones of the Serralves Foundation, the Museum of Contemporary Art and the House of Music.

If you like the June festivals, then visit the celebrations in honor of São João, the patron saint of Porto, it takes places always in the night of 24th of June and is considered as one of the largest and liveliest festivals throughout Europe!

Porto stands out by its friendly people, the beautiful weather in the spring, early summer, very good food and wine (most restaurants open their doors 19:30, they close early, so table reservation in high season recommended). Porto can also serve as a base for excursions to visit other attractions in the region such as the cities of Guimaraes or Aveiro. There are also offered one-day tours to the very interesting Douro Wine Region, but this is subject for another blog post.

What remains, Porto is definitely a city that is very very much worth a visit! I will come back!

Lençóis Maranhenses, beleza espetacular

O Parque Nacional dos Lençóis Maranhenses é uma destinação que não poderia ficar de fora do nosso livro de fotografias “66 x Brasil”. É uma área de grande importância ambiental e de uma beleza cênica impressionante. É uma destinação famosa para os viajantes que apreciam a natureza.

Esse parque está localizado no litoral do estado do Maranhão e abrange uma área de 156.605,72 hectares. Ele caracteriza-se por possuir ricas flora e fauna, além, é claro, de cenários espetaculares.

Quando eu lembro desse destino, eu recordo também de como cheguei lá e como foi ver aquela beleza de cima. Tudo começou quando estávamos planejando nossa viagem. Uma amiga, muito querida, que já havia visitado os Lençóis, me disse que o melhor seria que chegássemos a Barreirinhas, portão de entrada para se visitar os Lençóis, de avião. Assim, chegamos a Barreirinhas de avião, pequeno, com cinco lugares. Lembre-se que avião pequeno balança… A visão que se tem lá de cima é deslumbrante, inesquecível. Recomendo que você, se algum dia resolver visitar os Lençóis, chegue de avião e escolha entre os meses de maio a setembro, pois é quando as lagoas formadas devido às chuvas estão cheias. A primeira visão que eu tive, foi daquele misto de areia e água tão deslumbrante que a gente guarda na memória para sempre! Também é possível chegar a Barreirinhas pelo acesso rodoviário, (são aproximadamente 260 km de São Luiz), mas não tem a emoção de se ver de cima toda essa beleza.

Para se chegar aos Lençóis propriamente ditos e conhecer muitos dos atrativos da região é recomendável comprar os passeios através de uma agência de turismo. Chega-se nos principais atrativos com carros com tração 4×4 e também de barcos. Há trilhas, há passeios de barco. Um dos passeios clássicos inclui no roteiro a visita as lagoas do Peixe, Bonita, Azul dentre outras. Você sai cedo de Barreirinhas e viaja em torno de uma hora em um veículo adaptado para transportar turistas. O veículo atravessa o rio Preguiças numa balsa e em determinado ponto, o trecho é percorrido a pé. Há subidas e descidas de dunas, você mergulha em lagoas azuis e verdes e no final, você é contemplado com um belo por do sol. Além desse tour, há passeios de barco, de lanchas chamadas voadeiras, pelo rio Preguiças, onde há paradas para fotos, para almoço em restaurantes que servem comidas típicas da região.

Quando você planejar uma visita aos Lençóis Maranhenses, inclua também um dia para visitar o centro histórico da cidade de São Luís, tombado pela UNESCO, mas São Luiz é assunto para outra postagem.

Der Lençóis Maranhenses-Nationalpark ist ein Ziel, das nicht aus unserem Fotobuch “66 x Brasilien” wegzudenken ist. Es ist eine Region von großer Bedeutung für die Umwelt und von beeindruckender landschaftlicher Schönheit. Es ist ein beliebtes Ziel für Reisende, welche die Natur zu genießen wünschen.

Dieser Park liegt im Bundesstaat Maranhão an der Küste und erstreckt sich über eine Fläche von etwa 156.605 Hektar. Er zeichnet sich aus durch reiche Flora und Fauna, und, natürlich, durch seine spektakuläre Landschaft.

Wenn ich an dieses Reiseziel zurückdenke, dann erinnere ich mich auch daran, wie es war, all diese Schönheit von oben zu sehen. Alles begann damit, als wir unsere Reise planten. Eine gute Freundin, die die „Leintücher“ (Anmerkung: Lençóis übersetzt sind „Leintücher“) besucht hatte, sagte mir, dass es das Beste wäre, Barreirinhas, das Eingangstor, mit einem Flugzeug zu erreichen. So kamen wir eben nach Barreirinhas mit einem kleinen Flugzeug mit gerade mal fünf Sitzplätzen. Stellen Sie sich das kleine Flugzeug vor und seine Schwankungen … ABER die Sicht, die Sie von dort oben haben, ist atemberaubend, unvergesslich. Ich empfehle Ihnen, falls Sie Lençóis besuchen wollen, kommen Sie mit dem Flugzeug und wählen Sie zwischen den Monaten Mai bis September, wenn dann die durch den Regen gebildeten Teiche (Lagunen) mit Wasser gefüllt sind. Dieser erste Anblick war eine Mischung aus Sanddünen und Wasser so faszinierend, sodass wir es für immer in Erinnerung behalten werden! Sie können Barreirinhas auch via Straße erreichen, (es sind etwa 260 km von São Luiz), aber das kann nicht mit der Emotion verglichen werden, wenn Sie all diese Schönheit von oben zu sehen bekommen.

Touren über ein Reisebüro gebucht bringen Sie zu den wichtigsten Sehenswürdigkeiten entweder mit Fahrzeugen 4×4 und auch Booten. Es gibt Wanderwege, es gibt Bootsfahrten. Eine der klassischen Fahrten ist die Route der Dünen und den Lagunen dazwischen mit Fischen, schön, blau. Sie verlassen früh Barreirinhas, das geländefähige Fahrzeug überquert den Fluss Preguiças auf einem einfachen Floß und ab an einem gewissen Punkt geht es zu Fuß weiter über Dünen, dann tauchen Sie ein in blauen und grünen Lagunen und am Ende werden Sie mit einem wunderschönen Sonnenuntergang belohnt. Neben dieser Tour gibt es auch Ausflüge auf Schnellbooten mit Fotostops und Mittagessen in Restaurants mit typischen Gerichten.

Wenn Sie einen Besuch in Lençóis Maranhenses planen, reservieren Sie auch einen Tag, um das historische Zentrum von São Luís zu besuchen, von der UNESCO als Weltkulturerbe aufgelistet, aber, St. Louis ist ein Thema für einen anderen Beitrag in unserem Blog.

Lençóis Maranhenses, spectacular beauty

The Lençóis Maranhenses National Park is a destination that could not stay out of our photo book “66 x Brazil.” It is an area of great environmental importance and an impressive scenic beauty. It is a famous destination for travelers who want to enjoy nature.

This Park is located in the state of Maranhão and covers an area of 156,605.72 hectares. It is characterized by having a rich flora and fauna, and, of course, spectacular scenery.

When I remember that destination I also remember how I got there and how it was to see the beauty from above. It all started when we were planning our trip. A good friend, who had visited Lençóis, told me that the best way to reach Barreirinhas, the entrance gate to visit the „BedLinen“, (remember: the translation of Lençóis is bedlinen) is by plane. So we came to Barreirinhas by plane, a small one with five seats. Remember small planes and its balance movements … BUT the view that you have from up there is breathtaking, unforgettable. I recommend you if you ever decide to visit the „BedLinen“, arrive by plane and choose between the months of May to September, it is when the ponds formed by the rains are filled. The first view I had, was that mixture of sand and water so dazzling that we guard this memory forever! You can also get to Barreirinhas by road access, (there are approximately 260 km from São Luiz), but this does not have the emotion as it is when to see all this beauty from above.

To visit the „Lençóis“ themselves and to know many of the attractions of the area it is recommended to buy the tours through a travel agency. Get to see the main attractions with with 4×4 cars and boats. There are trails, there are boat trips. One of the classic rides include the route to visit the ponds of fish, beautiful, blue among others. You leave early in Barreirinhas and travels around an hour in a vehicle adapted to carry tourists. The vehicle crosses the river on a raft and at some point you continue on foot. There are ups and downs in the dunes, then you dive in blue and green lagoons and in the end, you are awarded with a beautiful sunset. Besides this tour there are boat trips on the the river Preguiças, where there are stops for photos and for lunch at restaurants serving typical food.

When you plan a visit to Maranhenses, also include one day to see the historic center of São Luís listed by UNESCO, but St. Louis is a topic for another Post in oue Blog.

O Maine/USA, nosso estado irmão

Fui ao Maine/USA, pela primeira vez em 1998, e cai de paixão, de lá para cá tem acontecido visitas sistemáticas a convite de amigos nascidos no estado, que se tornaram minha segunda família.

O Maine/USA é estado irmão do Rio Grande do Norte, no Programa Partners Of the Americas. (http://me-rnpartners.org/ e http://www.partners.net/). Companheiros das Americas, iniciado em 1967, no período do presidente Kennedy, derivado do programa Aliança para o Progresso, com as características de ser uma organização sem fins lucrativos, independente, não-partidária. É uma organização voluntária, privada, composta por cidadãos sem interferência de organizações governamentais.

Num reencontro profissional com uma amiga americana, Catherine Lee, participante do intercâmbio em Natal, na década de 70, tive a oportunidade de viver 40 dias na cidade de Portland/ME, a maior cidade do estado, dedicados ao estudo da língua inglesa. Mesmo na imersão, percebi os encantos da região. De lá pra cá foram várias idas. Recomendo a todos que gostam de viajar e conhecer lugares especiais, a programarem uma visita ao estado do Maine/EUA. O Maine é um estado na New England, nos Estados Unidos, faz fronteira com New Hampshire para o oeste, com o Oceano Atlântico, a leste, com o Canadá, ao leste e norte. É conhecido por seu litoral irregular, rochoso, montanhas baixas, interior densamente florestado e vias navegáveis pitorescas. Uma maravilha para quem aprecia esportes e turismo ao ar livre. Cerca de 83% do território do estado é coberto por florestas.

I went to Maine / USA, for the first time in 1998 and love it since. Since then took place systematic visits through invitations of friends born in the state there, who have become my second family.

The Maine State in USA is state brother of Rio Grande do Norte, Partners of the Americas program. (http://www.me-rnpartners.org/ and http://www.partners.net/). Partners of the Americas began in 1967 under President Kennedy derived from the Alliance for Progress program with the characteristics of being a non-profit, independent, non-political programme. It is a voluntary, private organization composed of citizens without interference from government.

A professional meeting with an American friend, Catherine Lee, exchange participant in Natal in the 70ths, gave me the opportunity to live 40 days in the city of Portland / ME, the state’s largest city to study English. Even studying I could enjoy the charm of the region. Since then I did several visits. Ich reiste zum ersten Mal im Jahr 1998 nach Maine / USA und liebte es sofort. Seitdem finden systematische Besuche auf Einladung von Freunden dort geboren statt, sie sind meine zweite Familie geworden.

Maine / USA ist das Partnerschafts-Bundesland von Rio Grande do Norte, Partner des Americas Programm. ( Http://me-rnpartners.org/ und http://www.partners.net/ ). Das Partner of the Americas Programm wurde 1967 unter Präsident Kennedy begonnen, es ist gemeinnützig, unabhängig, überparteilich. Es ist eine freiwillige, private Organisation, bestehend aus Bürgern ohne jegliche Einmischung der Regierung.

Eine offizielles Treffen mit einem amerikanischen Freund, Catherine Lee, Austauschteilnehmer in Natal in den 70er Jahren ergab für mich die Gelegenheit, 40 Tage in der Stadt Portland, die größte Stadt des Staates, zu leben und die englische Sprache zu studieren. Schon beim Studienprogramm dort erkannte ich den Charme der Region. Seitdem gab es mehrere Besuche. Ich kann es jedem nur empfehlen, der gerne besondere Orte bereisen und besuchen möchte, eine Reise nach Maine / USA zu planen. Acadia verzaubert uns durch seine vielen Süßwasserseen nur wenige Kilometer vom Meer entfernt. Ein Tag in Acadia für Liebhaber der Natur bietet folgende Aktivitäten: Wanderwege, perfekte Straßen für Fahrräder, Fjorde und Inseln die dazu einladen, mit dem Kajak erkundet zu werden.

Oktoberfest em Munique … grande atmosfera na maior festa popular do nosso planeta !!!!

Blog OKtfest1 — Erich quando foi à Oktoberfest pela primeira vez

Quando criança, eu sempre quis visitar a Oktoberfest em Munique. Finalmente, um dia, aconteceu. Viajamos à Munique e no caminho, eu somente pensava em quais brinquedos eu iria brincar e em qual ordem. Quando chegamos lá, tive uma grande surpresa: meus pais me disseram que eu podia brincar com tudo que eu quisesse. Eu estava definitivamente no paraíso!Eu não entendia, na época, que esse comportamento dos meus pais era uma estratégia inteligente, em vez de serem permanentemente atormentados por um menino na “Wiesn”, eles permitiram tudo e eis que eles estavam certos, depois de 3 horas eu estava tão cansado que eu só queria ir para o carro para dormir e ir para casa. Isso foi cerca de 50 anos atrás.

Agora em 2015 eu voltei à Oktoberfest com Marcia e vi esse maior festival do planeta, é claro, com olhos diferentes. Ele tem sido realizado desde 1810 no Theresienwiese perto do centro, a uma curta distância da estação central. Hoje em dia são realizadas Oktoberfests em todos os continentes.

Cerca 7 milhões de litros de Cerveja Oktoberfest especial foram consumidos durante os 16 dias de festa por cerca de 6 milhões de visitantes, o preço de uma caneca de 1 litro, nunca cheio, custa cerca de 10 euros. Além de todos os parques de diversões, estandes e jogos, esse evento oferece 14 tendas de cerveja com pratos típicos bávaros variados como Hendl (frango assado), Schweinebraten (porco assado), Schweinshaxe (grelhados presunto Hock), Steckerlfisch (Peixe grelhado em uma vara), Salsichas com Pretzels, Knödel (batata ou pão bolinhos), Käsespätzle (macarrão de queijo), Reiberdatschi (panquecas de batata), chucrute ou Blaukraut (repolhos branco e vermelho), Obatzda (a picante queijo-manteiga) e Weißwurst (salsichas brancas) com mostarda doce.

A equipe de segurança da festa presente nas 14 tendas de cerveja, evitou que 110.000 pessoas levassem suas canecas para casa como souvenir.

O setor de Achados e Perdidos desse evento, como sempre, recebe muitos documentos e objetos, alguns surpreendentes. Além de 600 passaportes, 580 carteiras, 320 celulares, 220 sacos e mochilas, 18 câmeras, 230 óculos e 45 peças de jóias e relógios, também existem alguns itens incomuns, alguns deles ainda à espera de serem recolhidos por seus legítimos proprietários: duas alianças de casamento, um novo iPhone 6 e bilhetes para o futebol da Bundesliga. Os itens mais surpreendentes da Oktoberfest 2015 são: um cachorro, dois vestidos típicos alemães (bávaros), dois pares de leathertrousers (as roupas típicas masculinas), um “GoPro Câmera” e muito mais…!!

Oktoberfest in München …tolle Stimmung auf dem grössten Volksfest unseres Planeten !!!!

Schon als kleiner Junge wollte ich schon immer auf das Oktoberfest in München. Endlich dann eines Tages war es soweit. Wir fuhren nach München und meine Gedanken kreisten nur um das Thema, welche der zahllosen Fahrgeschäfte ich wie oft und in welcher Reihenfolge benutzen würde. Dann die absolute Überraschung, womit ich niemals gerechnet hatte, meine Eltern erklärten mir, dass ich mit allem fahren dürfte, ich war im Paradies! Ich verstand damals natürlich nicht, dass dieses Verhalten meiner Eltern eine clevere Strategie war, anstatt mit einem permanent nörgelnden Buben auf der “Wiesn“ zu sein, erlaubten sie alles und siehe da, sie hatten Recht, nach 3 Stunden war ich so müde und ausgelaugt, sodass ich nur noch zum Auto wollte, um zu schlafen und heimzufahren. Das war also vor etwa 50 Jahren.

Nun 2015 war ich wieder auf dem Oktoberfest mit Marcia und sah dieses grösste Volksfest unseres Planeten natürlich mit ganz anderen Augen. Es findet seit 1810 auf der Theresienwiese nahe dem Zentrum in Gehdistanz zum Hauptbahnhof statt. Weltweit gibt es heute Oktoberfeste auf allen Kontinenten.

Etwa 7 Millionen spezielles Oktoberfestbier werden während der 16 Tage von den etwa 6 Millionen Besuchern konsumiert, der Preis eines immer nicht vollen 1l Kruges liegt heute bei etwa 10 EURO. Neben allen erdenklichen Fahrgeschäften, Verkaufsständen und Spielen offerieren 14 Bierzelte mit typischen bayrischen Gerichten ein abwechslungsreiches kulinarisches Angebot wie Hendl, Schweinebraten, Schweinshaxe, Steckerlfisch, Würstl mit Brezen, Knödel, Käsespätzle, Reiberdatschi, Sauerkraut oder Rotkraut, Obatzda und Weißwürste mit süßem Senf.

Das Sicherheitspersonal in den Bierzelten stoppte etwa 110.000 heiter-angetrunkene Personen beim Versuch, ihren Bierkrug als Souvenir mit nach Hause zu nehmen.

Das Fundbüro auf solch einem riesigen Fest wartet natürlich auch mit Überraschungen auf: 600 Reisepässe, 580 Geldbörsen, 320 Handies, 220 Taschen und Rucksäcke, 18 Kameras, 230 Brillen, 45 Schmucksachen und Uhren warten darauf abgeholt zu werden. Weiterhin warten auf ihre Besitzer 2 Eheringe, ein neues iPhone6, ein Hund, 2 Dirndl Kleider, 2 Lederhosen und vieles mehr…!

Oktoberfest in Munich … great atmosphere on the largest folk festival on our planet !!!!

As a little boy I always wanted to visit the Oktoberfest in Munich. Finally then one day it happened. We drove to Munich and my thoughts were only on the subject which of the countless rides would I use as often and in what order. Then, the absolute surprise, which I had never expected, my parents told me that I can go with all that I want, I was in paradise! I did not understand at that time, of course, that this behavior of my parents was a clever strategy, instead of being permanently nagged by a boy on the “Wiesn”, they allowed everything and behold, they were right, after 3 hours I was so tired and drained so that I just wanted to go tot he car to sleep and to go home. That was about 50 years ago.

Now in 2015 I was at the Oktoberfest again with Marcia and saw this biggest festival of the planet, of course with different eyes. It has been held since 1810 on the Theresienwiese near the center within walking distance to the central station. Worldwide there are today Oktoberfests held on all continents.

Approximately 7 million litres special Oktoberfest beer during the 16 days were consumed from the approximately 6 million visitors, the price of a never full 1l jug is now at about 10 EURO. In addition to all amusement rides, sidestalls and games offer 14 beer tents with typical Bavarian dishes a varied cuisine as Hendle (roast chicken), Schweinebraten (roast pork), Schweinshaxe (grilled ham hock), Steckerlfisch (grilled fisch on a stick), sausages with pretzels, Knödel (potatoe or bread dumplings), Käsespätzle (cheese noodles), Reiberdatschi (potato pancakes), Sauerkraut or Blaukraut (cabage and red cabbage), Obatzda (a spicy cheese-butter spread) and Weißwurst (white sausages) with sweet mustard.

In the 14 beer tents security stopped a dazzling 110.000 people form taking their mug home with them.

The Lost and Found office can, as usual, come up with some very surprising finds. Apart from 600 passports, 580 wallets, 320 mobile phones, 220 bags and rucksacks, 18 cameras, 230 glasses and 45 pieces of jewelry and watches, there are also some unusual items, some of them still waiting to be collected by their rightful owner:
Two wedding-rings, one brand new iPhone 6 and tickets for the Bundesliga football.
The top finds of the Oktoberfest 2015 are: A dog, two dirndl-dresses, two pairs of leathertrousers, a “GoPro Kamera” and a lot more.

Complexo Hidrelétrico de Paulo Afonso, a força das águas

A cidade de Paulo Afonso está distante 480 km de Salvador, 460 km de Recife e 380 km de Maceió. Eu lembro que quando criança, minha mãe sempre falava da “energia que vinha de Paulo Afonso”. Acho que mesmo que você não conheça Paulo Afonso, já ouviu falar dela. Ela se tornou famosa devido a Cachoeira de Paulo Afonso, conhecida desde o século XVI quando era chamada de “Sumidouro” ou “Forquilha”.

A grande atração turística desse lugar é o Complexo Hidrelétrico de Paulo Afonso, também conhecido como o Complexo Paulo Afonso e cuja construção iniciou-se no ano de 1949.

Quando Erich e eu estávamos viajando para captar imagens para nosso livro 66 x Brasil, tivemos o prazer de visitar Paulo Afonso e o mencionado Complexo. Você somente tem acesso a área da Hidroelétrica se for acompanhado com um guia de turismo. No passeio é possível contemplar belas paisagens, quedas d’ água, lagos, pontes estreitas, é realmente muito interessante!

O Complexo Hidrelétrico do São Francisco é formado por um sistema de três barragens e pelas usinas de Paulo Afonso – I, II, III, IV – e Apolônio Sales (Moxotó) no rio São Francisco. A Usina IV tem uma das maiores cavernas do planeta, com 210 metros de extensão e 55 de altura. Esse complexo produz, aproximadamente, 4.300 MW (megawatts) de energia elétrica.

Além de visitar esse complexo, você também tem outras atrações para conhecer em Paulo Afonso como fazer passeios de catamarã pelo cânion do rio São Francisco (os tours saem do Povoado do Rio do Sal, distante 15 km de Paulo Afonso), visitar o Raso da Catarina, maior reserva de caatinga do mundo, que também serviu de abrigo a Lampião, o Rei do Cangaço, conhecer a Casa de Maria Bonita, escalar a Serra do Umbuzeiro.

Die Stadt Paulo Afonso ist 480 km von Salvador, 460 km von Recife und 380 km von Maceio entfernt. Ich erinnere mich als Kind, dass meine Mutter immer gesagt hat: “unsere Energie kommt aus Paulo Afonso.” Ich denke, auch wenn Sie Paulo Afonso nicht kennen, Sie haben zumindest davon gehört,

es wurde berühmt seit dem sechzehnten Jahrhundert wegen des Paulo Afonso Wasserfalles bekannt als die “Felslücke” oder “die Gabel”.

Die große Touristenattraktion des Ortes ist der Paulo Afonso Wasserkomplex, mit dessen Bau im Jahr 1949 begonnen wurde.

Als Erich und ich dort waren, um Fotos für unser Buch “66 x Brasilien” zu machen, besuchten wir natürlich auch diesen riesigen Wasserkomplex. Sie können den hydroelektrischen Bereich nur mit einem lokalen Reiseführer besuchen. Auf der Tour können Sie schöne Landschaften, Wasserfälle, Seen, schmale Brücken bewundern, ein Besuch lohnt sich wirklich!

Das Paulo Afonso hydroelektrische Wasserkraftwerk ist ein System von drei Dämmen und fünf Wasserkraftwerken auf dem Rio São Francisco. Die Dämme unterstützen die Paulo Afonso I, II, III, IV und Apollonius Sales (Moxotó) Kraftwerke, die insgesamt 23 Generatoren mit einer installierten Leistung von 4.300 Megawatt aufweisen. Das Werk IV verfügt über eine der größten Höhlen der Welt, 210 Meter lang und 55 hoch!

Weitere Attraktionen in Paulo Afonso sind Fahrten durch die Schlucht des Flusses auf einem Katamaran, Startpunkt hierfür ist die Stadt Salt River, 15 km von Paulo Afonso entfernt!

Besuchen Sie auch die “Raso da Catherine” das größte Savannenreservat der Welt, das auch als Unterschlupf des Banditen Lampião`s diente, dem König von Cangaceiro;

The distance of the city Paulo Afonso from Salvador is 480 km, 460 km from Recife and 380 km from Maceio.
