Localizada no extremo sul da ilha de Vancouver, a aproximadamente 100 km da cidade de Vancouver, Victoria é a capital da província de British Columbia, sendo considerada um dos destinos turísticos mais atrativos e fascinantes da ilha.

Em homenagem à Rainha Victoria da Inglaterra, a cidade não carrega apenas em seu nome a história da monarquia, mas também retrata em seus castelos preservados, prédios antigos e famosos jardins a sua herança britânica, tendo sido colonizada pela coroa inglesa no ano de 1849 e construída sob o território tradicional do Povo Lekwungen. Victoria tem uma população  de aproximadamente 92.000 habitantes.

É também conhecida como a cidade dos jardins “The Garden City”, onde é possível observar o cuidado florido distribuído em vários pontos da cidade, um verdadeiro encanto aos olhos. Dotada de paisagens extraordinárias, tanto marítimas quanto terrestres, a cidade de Victoria oferece ao turista um leque de experiências únicas e agradáveis. Bares, restaurantes, pubs, museus, teatros, parques, castelos, monumentos, festivais, eventos culturais, clima relativamente ameno e cenário paisagístico são algumas das referências que atraem tanto o visitante para essa cidade que possui como uma das suas principais fontes de renda o turismo.

Nós somos uma família do Nordeste do Brasil que está vivenciando a experiência de morar nesse maravilhoso pedaço do Canadá desde agosto do corrente ano.

Abaixo, listamos alguns destinos imperdíveis da cidade de Victoria, BC.

• Parliament Buildings:

É onde está localizada a Assembléia Legislativa de British Columbia. Com marcante arquitetura neobarroca, estilo do século XIX e uma imponente estátua da Rainha Victoria na parte externa, o Parlamento é um destino obrigatório aos turistas .

Construído no ano de 1897, o local é aberto ao público para visitação em sua parte interna, no entanto, devido à pandemia esta atividade encontra-se suspensa. De rápido e fácil acesso, é situado no centro da cidade de Victoria e é comum observar pessoas realizando piqueniques em seu espaçoso gramado, curtindo um belo dia de sol.

• Fairmont Empress Hotel:

Datado de 1908, é considerado um dos hotéis mais antigos da cidade. Localizado próximo ao Edifício do Parlamento e com uma majestosa vista para o Inner Harbour, o prédio passou por recente restauração e é considerado um sítio nacional histórico, devido ao seu estilo de arquitetura Chateauesque (arquitetura renascentista francesa). Com um total de 464 quartos, restaurantes, spa, lobby, etc., o Empress Hotel é reconhecido pela revista National Geographic Traveler como um dos 21 melhores hotéis icônicos do mundo.

• Inner Harbour:

O Inner Harbour é palco para inúmeros festivais de música, cultura e afins durante o verão e oferece uma série de convidativas atrações ao longo do ano, tais como o famoso whale watching, atividade de ecoturismo tão marcante da ilha. Considerado um dos portos mais belos existentes, também é possível observar hidroaviões e diversas embarcações, conferindo uma atmosfera charmosa à região. Espaço perfeito para curtir uma caminhada com uma estonteante vista e em seguida desfrutar de um delicioso café ou boa refeição em seus mais variados restaurantes e cafeterias que os circundam .

Aos mais aventureiros, existem diversas opções de serviço de ecoturismo, através da observação de vida selvagem, principalmente de orcas e baleias, como a jubarte. A título de curiosidade, o valor atual por pessoa da atividade de whale watching gira em torno de $100 CAD.

• Royal BC Museum

Com cerca de 7 milhões de objetos em sua coleção e com o título concedido pela coroa real Inglesa no ano de 1987, o Royal British Columbia Museum, que teve sua origem no ano de 1886, abriga em seu espaço 03 galerias permanentes e outras exposições itinerantes.

Acredita-se que o acervo da galeria permanente de história natural chega a 750 mil espécimes da biodiversidade de BC. O prédio está localizado próximo ao Empress Hotel, Parlamento e Inner Harbour. O valor atual para visitação por pessoa é de $22,95 CAD para adultos, $14,95 CAD para pessoas acima de 65 anos e estudantes, $13.95 CAD para pessoas entre 6-18 anos e entrada livre para crianças até 5 anos. O espaço funciona diariamente das 10am-6pm, com exceção das quartas-feiras, onde é fechado ao público.

• Fisherman’s Wharf Park

Por ora, um dos destinos mais prazerosos da ilha que tivemos a oportunidade de visitar. Com uma ampla variedade de quiosques de alimentação, o local é perfeito para desfrutar do famoso “fish and fries” e outros pratos de frutos do mar frescos, na companhia de curiosas gaivotas.

A vista fica por conta de casas flutuantes coloridas, algumas destas abrigando moradores permanentes.

Ainda, o   Fisherman’s Wharf Park possui lojinhas de suveniers, oferece passeios de ecoturismo, como o de caiaque e observação da vida marinha e um quiosque de sorveteria, com um delicioso gelado de blueberry.

• Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Sites:

O Fort Rodd Hill, fortaleza de artilharia que funcionou de 1895 a 1956, possui edifícios do século XIX, bunkers, canhões, locais para acampamento e é cercado por histórias de todos os lados.

É possível caminhar em trilhas na floresta,

desfrutar de paisagens belíssimas,

sentar em rochas para descansar e apreciar o mar, até chegar ao Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site, primeiro farol da costa oeste do Canadá, com um cenário de tirar o fôlego.

Lá, você pode fazer um tour em exposições e reservar um momento para visualizar a vida selvagem em plena harmonia (as mais diversas aves, focas, lontras…).

O território também é conhecido por abrigar uma rica biodiversidade e o Canadá é um dos países seriamente comprometidos em proteger e preservar a natureza da região .

• Butchard Gardens:

Antigamente o território servia como pedreira para a produção de cimento. Com o olhar carinhoso e visionário, Jennie Butchard transformou a propriedade da família em uma perfumada variedade de jardins, entre submersos, japoneses, italianos, mediterrâneos, de rosas, etc. Com mais de cem anos de existência, o Butchard Gardens é considerado sítio histórico nacional e abriga grande número de plantas, bem como totens e algumas estátuas de bronze distribuídas ao longo do percurso. • Hatley Castle e Hatley Park National Historic Site:

Conhecido como patrimônio federal e construído no ano de 1908, o Hatley Castle foi palco para filmes como X-Men, Deadpool, Macgyver, Poltergeist, dentre outros. Está inserido no território do Hatley Park National Historic Site, que abriga valiosa história, onde também está localizada a Royal Roads University.

Aqui, você pode caminhar por jardins exuberantes e trilhas ao longo da floresta protegida,

como também realizar um piquenique no gramado verdinho, em frente ao lindo castelo .

O espaço funciona das 8 am às 16 pm.

Dentre tantas opções ainda a serem desvendadas que a cidade oferece, indicamos alguns outros locais que o visitante não pode deixar de conhecer: O Craigdarroch Castle, uma viagem no tempo

e um encanto aos olhos; Chinatown, localizada em Downtown;

o Goldstream Provincial Park,

com fascinantes paisagens, ampla biodiversidade, rios e cachoeiras; o Beacon Hill Park, ótimo local para realizar uma tranquila caminhada e contemplar a natureza;

o Macaulay Point, com a sua vista deslumbrante para o mar, onde também é possível observar focas, lontras e com sorte, baleias (na temporada certa).

A imersão nos mais variados cenários acima citados permite que o turista possa vivenciar uma experiência única ao visitar Victoria, BC.

Als Hommage an Königin Victoria von England trägt die Stadt nicht nur die Geschichte der Monarchie in ihrem Namen, sondern zeigt auch in ihren erhaltenen Burgen, alten Gebäuden und berühmten Gärten ihr britisches Erbe, das 1849 von der englischen Krone kolonialisiert wurde, erbaut unter dem traditionellen Territorium der Lekwungen.

Es ist auch bekannt als die Stadt der Gärten “Die Gartenstadt”, in der es möglich ist, die Blumenpflege zu beobachten, die auf mehrere Bereiche der Stadt verteilt ist und einen echten Anreiz für die Augen darstellt.Victoria hat eine Bevölkerung von ungefähr 92.000.

Im Folgenden finden Sie einige Ziele, die Sie in der Stadt Victoria, BC, gesehen haben müssen.

• Parlamentsgebäude:

Hier befindet sich die gesetzgebende Versammlung von British Columbia. Mit seiner auffälligen neobarocken Architektur im Stil des 19. Jahrhunderts und einer imposanten Statue der Königin Victoria im Außenbereich ist das Parlament ein Muss für Touristen.

Der 1897 erbaute Ort ist für die Öffentlichkeit zugänglich. Aufgrund der Pandemie wird diese Aktivität jedoch eingestellt. Es ist schnell und einfach zu erreichen und befindet sich im Stadtzentrum von Victoria. Es ist üblich, Menschen beim Picknicken auf dem großen Rasen zuzusehen und einen schönen sonnigen Tag zu genießen.

• Fairmont Empress Hotel:

Es stammt aus dem Jahr 1908 und gilt als eines der ältesten Hotels der Stadt. Das Gebäude befindet sich neben dem Parlamentsgebäude und bietet einen majestätischen Blick auf den Innenhafen. Es wurde kürzlich restauriert und gilt aufgrund seines Chateauesque-Stils (französische Renaissance-Architektur) als historische nationale Stätte. Mit insgesamt 464 Zimmern, Restaurants, Spa, Lobby usw. wird das Empress Hotel vom National Geographic Traveller Magazine als eines der 21 besten Hotels der Welt anerkannt.

• Innerer Hafen:

Der Innere Hafen ist die Bühne für unzählige Musik-, Kultur- und verwandte Festivals im Sommer und bietet das ganze Jahr über eine Reihe einladender Attraktionen wie die berühmte Walbeobachtung und Ökotourismus-Aktivitäten auf der Insel.

Als einer der schönsten Häfen der Welt können auch Wasserflugzeuge und mehrere Schiffe beobachtet werden, was der Region eine charmante Atmosphäre verleiht. Ein perfekter Ort, um einen Spaziergang mit atemberaubender Aussicht zu genießen und anschließend einen köstlichen Kaffee oder eine gute Mahlzeit in den vielfältigsten Restaurants und Cafés zu genießen.

Für die Abenteuerlustigen gibt es verschiedene Möglichkeiten für den Ökotourismus, indem sie Wildtiere beobachten, hauptsächlich Orcas und Wale wie Buckelwale. Der aktuelle Preis für Walbeobachtungsaktivitäten  liegt bei etwa 100 CAD pro Person.

• Royal BC Museum

Mit rund 7 Millionen Objekten in seiner Sammlung und dem Titel, der 1987 von der britischen Königskrone verliehen wurde, beherbergt das 1886 entstandene Royal British Columbia Museum in seinem Raum 03 permanente Galerien und andere Wanderausstellungen.

Es wird angenommen, dass die Sammlung der permanenten Galerie für Naturgeschichte 750.000 Exemplare der biologischen Vielfalt von BC erreicht. Das Gebäude befindet sich neben dem Empress Hotel, dem Parlament und dem Inner Harbor. Die aktuelle Besuchsgebühr pro Person beträgt 22,95 CAD für Erwachsene, 14,95 CAD für Personen über 65 und Studenten, 13,95 CAD für Personen im Alter von 6 bis 18 Jahren und freien Eintritt für Kinder bis 5 Jahre. Das Museum ist täglich von 10 bis 18 Uhr geöffnet außer mittwochs.

• Fisherman’s Wharf Park

Vorerst für uns eines der schönsten Reiseziele auf der Insel, das wir besuchen durften. Mit einer großen Auswahl an Lebensmittelkiosken ist der Ort perfekt, um die berühmten “fish and fries” („Fisch und Pommes“) und andere frische Fischgerichte in Begleitung neugieriger Möwen zu genießen.

Die Aussicht ist auf farbenfrohe schwimmende Häuser zurückzuführen, von denen einige ständige Bewohner beherbergen.

Darüber hinaus bietet der Fisherman’s Wharf Park Souvenirläden, Ökotourismus-Touren wie Kajakfahren und Beobachtung von Meereslebewesen an sowie eine Eisdiele mit köstlichem Blaubeereis.

• Nationale historische Stätten Fort Rodd Hill und Fisgard Lighthouse:

Fort Rodd Hill, eine Artillerie-Festung, die von 1895 bis 1956 betrieben wurde, verfügt über Gebäude, Bunker, Kanonen und Campingplätze aus dem 19. Jahrhundert und ist von Geschichte auf allen Seiten umgeben.

Sie können auf Pfaden im Wald spazieren,

wunderschöne Landschaften genießen,

auf Felsen sitzen, um sich auszuruhen und das Meer zu genießen, bis Sie dann die Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site, Kanadas ersten Leuchtturm an der Westküste, mit einer atemberaubenden Landschaft, erreichen.

Dort können Sie einen Rundgang durch Ausstellungen machen und sich einen Moment Zeit nehmen, um die Tierwelt in voller Harmonie zu beobachten (die verschiedensten Vögel, Robben, Otter …).

• Butchard Gardens:

In der Vergangenheit diente das Gebiet als Steinbruch für die Herstellung von Zement. Mit einem fürsorglichen und visionären Auge verwandelte Jennie Butchard das Anwesen der Familie in eine duftende Vielfalt von Gärten, darunter untergetauchte, japanische, italienische, mediterrane, Rosen usw. Butchard Gardens besteht seit über hundert Jahren und gilt als nationale historische Stätte. Es beherbergt eine große Anzahl von Pflanzen sowie Totems und einige Bronzestatuen, die entlang des Besuchsweges verteilt sind. Die aktuelle Eintrittsgebühr variiert zwischen 12 und 24 CAD.

• Hatley Castle und Hatley Park National Historic Site:

Das als Bundeserbe bekannte und 1908 erbaute Hatley Castle war Schauplatz von Filmen wie X-Men, Deadpool, Macgyver und Poltergeist. Es befindet sich auf dem Gebiet der Hatley Park National Historic Site, die wertvolle Geschichte beherbergt, wo sich auch die Royal Roads University befindet.

Hier können Sie durch üppige Gärten und Pfade entlang des geschützten Waldes spazieren

und auf dem grünen Rasen vor dem schönen Schloss ein Picknick machen.

Dieser Bereich ist von 8 bis 16 Uhr geöffnet.

Victoria, one of Canada’s most fascinating travel destinations

Victoria is located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, about 100 km from Vancouver.

Victoria is the capital of the province of British Columbia and is considered one of the most attractive and fascinating travel destinations on the island.

As a tribute to Queen Victoria of England the city not only bears the history of the monarchy in its name, but also shows its British heritage, which was colonized by the English crown in 1849, built under the traditional in its preserved castles, old buildings and famous gardens Territory of the Lekwungen.

• Parliament building:

The Legislative Assembly of British Columbia is located here. With its striking neo-baroque architecture in the style of the 19th century and an imposing statue of Queen Victoria in the outdoor area, the parliament is a must for tourists.

The place, built in 1897, is open to the public. However, due to the pandemic, this activity will be suspended. Quick and easy to get to, it is located in Victoria city center. It is common to watch people picnic on the large lawn and enjoy a nice sunny day.

• Fairmont Empress Hotel:

It dates back to 1908 and is considered one of the oldest hotels in the city. The building is located next to the parliament building and offers a majestic view of the inner harbor. It has recently been restored and is considered a National Historic Site due to its Chateauesque (French Renaissance architecture) style. With a total of 464 rooms, restaurants, spa, lobby, etc., the Empress Hotel is recognized by National Geographic Traveler Magazine as one of the 21 best hotels in the world.

• Inner port:

The Inner Harbor is the stage for countless music, cultural and related festivals in the summer and offers a number of inviting attractions throughout the year, including the island’s famous whale watching and ecotourism activities.

As one of the most beautiful harbors in the world seaplanes and several ships can also be observed, which gives the region a charming atmosphere. A perfect place to enjoy a walk with a breathtaking view and then enjoy a delicious coffee or a good meal in the most diverse restaurants and cafes.

For the more adventurous there are several options for ecotourism by watching wildlife, mainly orcas and whales such as humpback whales. The current price for whale watching activities is around CAD 100 per person.

• Royal BC Museum

With around 7 million objects in its collection and the title awarded by the British royal crown in 1987 the Royal British Columbia Museum, established in 1886, houses permanent galleries and other traveling exhibitions in its room 03.

The permanent Natural History Gallery’s collection is believed to reach 750,000 BC Biodiversity copies. The building is adjacent to the Empress Hotel, Parliament and the Inner Harbor. The current per-person visit fee is CAD 22.95 for adults, CAD 14.95 for people over 65 and students, CAD 13.95 for people ages 6-18, and free entry for children under 5. The museum is open every day from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. except Wednesdays.

• Fisherman’s Wharf Park

For now one of the most beautiful travel destinations on the island that we were allowed to visit. With a large selection of food kiosks, the place is perfect to enjoy the famous “fish and fries” and other fresh fish dishes accompanied by curious seagulls.

The view is due to colorful floating houses, some of which house permanent residents.

In addition, Fisherman’s Wharf Park offers gift shops, ecotourism tours such as kayaking and marine life viewing, and an ice cream parlor with delicious blueberry ice cream.

• National Historic Sites Fort Rodd Hill and Fisgard Lighthouse:

Fort Rodd Hill, an artillery fortress, that operated from 1895 to 1956, has 19th century buildings, bunkers, cannons, and campgrounds and is surrounded by history on all sides.

You can walk trails in the forest,

enjoy beautiful scenery,

sit on rocks to rest and enjoy the ocean, until you then reach the Fisgard Lighthouse National Historic Site, Canada’s first lighthouse on the west coast with breathtaking scenery.

There you can take a tour of exhibitions and take a moment to observe the wildlife in full harmony (all kinds of birds, seals,            otters …).

This region is also known to be home to rich biodiversity, and Canada is one of the countries that are very serious about protecting and preserving the region’s nature.

• Butchard Gardens:

In the past the area served as a quarry for the production of cement. With a caring and visionary eye Jennie Butchard transformed the family property into a fragrant variety of gardens including submerged, Japanese, Italian, Mediterranean, roses, etc. Butchard Gardens has been around for over a hundred years and is considered a national historic site. It is home to a large number of plants as well as totems and some bronze statues that are dotted along the visiting path. The current entry fee varies between CAD 12 and CAD 24.

• Hatley Castle and Hatley Park National Historic Site:

Known as a federal heritage and built in 1908 Hatley Castle has been the location of films such as X-Men, Deadpool, Macgyver and Poltergeist. It is on the Hatley Park National Historic Site, which is home to valuable history, which is also where the Royal Roads University is located.

Here you can stroll through lush gardens and paths along the protected forest

and have a picnic on the green lawn in front of the beautiful castle.

The area is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
