Monte Verde é um distrito da cidade mineira de Camanducaia e está distante 620 km de Belo Horizonte e 166 km de São Paulo, aliás é o melhor ponto para se chegar lá. Ela possui uma população de aproximadamente 5000 habitantes e está situada numa altitude de quase 1600 metros. Ela se originou de uma fazenda pertencente a um imigrante da Letônia Verner Gringberg. A partir daí, muitos imigrantes da Itália, Rússia, Suíça, Hungria e Alemanha adotaram Monte Verde como sua segunda cidade

Esse distrito integra o circuito das serras mineiras. A cidade é famosa também pelo seu Festival de Inverno com atrativos artísticos e culturais.

O caminho entre Camanducaia e Monte Verde é ladeado por belas paisagens.

Essa pequena cidade atrai muitos visitantes, principalmente no período compreendido entre maio e agosto, quando as temperaturas são baixas propícias para se deliciar com uma fondue e um chocolate quente. Nessa época do ano há uma grande variação de temperatura, podendo variar, por exemplo, entre 23 e 11 graus Celsius.

Estivemos em Monte Verde no final do mês de maio e ficamos impressionados com a quantidade de pessoas e carros circulando na Avenida Monte Verde, a artéria principal do lugar. É principalmente nessa avenida onde estão localizados restaurantes, bares e lojas de souvenires.

Em um sábado, à tarde, por volta das 15:30, tivemos dificuldade em encontrar uma mesa vazia em um dos restaurantes locais.

A gastronomia de Monte Verde é caracterizada pela existência de restaurantes que oferecem fondue, comidas alemãs, trutas, dentre outros e chocolatarias onde é possível beber um chocolate quente. Nós jantamos na Casa do Fondue Cervejaria Fritz. Almoçamos na Confraria Paulistana, com um bom cardápio de comida alemã. A cidade possui outros restaurantes, chocolatarias, cafés e empórios.

Monte Verde possui locais onde é possível beber excelentes cervejas artesanais.

A cidade é famosa também pela existência de algumas trilhas que atraem os que gostam de estarem pertinho da natureza. A mais famosa delas é a Trilha da Pedra Redonda de onde se descortina uma bela vista da Serra da Mantiqueira. Nós percorremos a Trilha do Pinheiro Velho, cuja entrada é em frente à loja de Cláudio Passeios. Nós entramos em outro ponto para percorrer essa trilha, pois conhecemos primeiro o Mirante do Aeroporto.

Há vários quiosques que oferecem passeios de Jeep e de quadriciclos. Existe um City Tour, oferecido pela maioria das agências de passeios, que inclui a Trilha da Pedra Redonda, as visitas as fábricas de chocolate, de sabonete, à cachaçaria, a um local onde são produzidas trutas, dentre outros. Há também a Trilha das Corredeiras do Itapuá, no hotel de mesmo nome. Existe também passeios à Fazenda Radical, à Falcoaria, além de outros. Monte Verde pode ser uma opção de passeio que você pode programar três pernoites. Se quiser fazer um passeio até Gonçalves, em torno de 80 km de Monte Verde, outra cidadezinha turística nas proximidades inclua mais outro pernoite. Outra sugestão de passeio é realizar um tour incluindo Campos do Jordão (distante 142 km de Monte Verde), Monte Verde e Gonçalves. Então seria uma viagem com uma maior quantidade de pernoites.

O melhor é visitar Monte Verde com seu próprio veículo, dessa forma fica mais fácil se locomover na cidade e nas proximidades. Nós estávamos sem carro e por isso nos hospedamos em um hotel (Roots Hotel) próximo á Avenida Monte Verde. Há hospedagens para todos os gostos e bolsos. Há também belos hotéis localizados fora da cidade. A cidade não dispõe de Uber e são poucos os táxis (o ponto de táxi é na praça ao lado do Banco Bradesco).

Monte Verde, apesar de ser uma cidade pequena, é importante tomar muito cuidado ao atravessar a rua. Fui atropelada nas proximidades do Banco Bradesco. Por sorte não fraturei nada, porém passei dias sentindo dores nas costas e no joelho.

Monte Verde – die „Schweiz“ von Minas Gerais

Monte Verde ist ein Stadtteil der Bergbaustadt Camanducaia und liegt 620 km von Belo Horizonte und 166 km von São Paulo entfernt, in der Tat ist dies der beste Ausgangspunkt, um dorthin zu gelangen.

Es hat eine Bevölkerung von etwa 5000 Einwohnern und liegt auf einer Höhe von fast 1600 Metern. Es entstand aus einer Farm, die dem lettischen Einwanderer Verner Gringberg gehörte. Von dort aus haben dann viele Einwanderer aus Italien, Russland, der Schweiz, Ungarn und Deutschland Monte Verde zu ihrer zweiten Heimat auserkoren.

Diese Region ist Teil der Bergkette von Minas Gerais. Die Stadt ist auch berühmt für ihr Winterfestival mit künstlerischen und kulturellen Attraktionen.

Der Weg zwischen Camanducaia und Monte Verde wird von wunderschönen Landschaften flankiert.

Die kleine Stadt zieht viele Besucher an, besonders zwischen Mai und August, wenn die Temperaturen niedrig sind, was ideal ist, um ein Fondue und eine heiße Schokolade zu genießen. Zu dieser Jahreszeit gibt es große Temperaturschwankungen, die beispielsweise zwischen 23 C tagsüber und 11 Grad Celsius nachts liegen.

Wir waren Ende Mai in Monte Verde und waren beeindruckt von der Menge an Menschen und Autos, die auf der Avenida Monte Verde, der Hauptverkehrsader des Ortes, unterwegs waren. Auf dieser Allee befinden sich hauptsächlich Restaurants, Bars und Souvenirläden.

An einem Samstagnachmittag gegen 15:30 Uhr hatten wir Schwierigkeiten, einen freien Tisch in einem der vielen örtlichen Restaurants zu finden.

Die Gastronomie von Monte Verde zeichnet sich durch die Existenz von Restaurants aus, die unter anderem Fondue, deutsche Gerichte, Forellen und Schokolade anbieten, in denen es möglich ist, eine heiße Schokolade zu trinken.

Wir aßen in der Casa do Fondue und der Brauerei Fritz zu Abend. Wir aßen in der Confraria Paulistana zu Mittag, mit einer guten Auswahl an deutschen Gerichten. Viele Cafés und Einkaufszentren laden zum Besuch ein.

Monte Verde offeriert Orte, an denen Sie ausgezeichnete Craft-Biere trinken können.

Die Stadt ist auch berühmt für die Existenz einiger Wanderwege.   Der berühmteste davon ist der Pedra Redonda Trail, von dem aus Sie einen wunderschönen Blick auf die Serra da Mantiqueira Berge genießen können. Wir machten den kurzen Pinheiro Velho Trail, dessen Eingang sich vor dem Geschäft von Cláudio Passeios befindet. Wir haben ihn vom Aussichtspunkt Mirante do Aeroporto aus betreten.

Es gibt mehrere Kioske, die Jeep- und ATV-Touren anbieten. Es gibt eine Stadtrundfahrt, die von den meisten Reisebüros angeboten wird, die unter anderem den Pedra Redonda Trail und die Besuche von Schokoladenfabriken, Seifenfabriken, Cachaçaria (Schnapsläden) und eine Forellenzucht beinhalten.

Es gibt auch den Itapuá Corredeiras Trail am gleichnamigen Hotel und Touren zur Farm Fazenda Radical und einer Falknerei.

Monte Verde kann eine Touroption für die Sie drei Nächte einplanen können. Falls Sie einen Ausflug nach Gonçalves, ein weiterer Touristenort rund 80 km von Monte Verde entfernt, unternehmen möchten, wäre eine weitere Übernachtung empfehlenswert.

Ein weiterer Tourenvorschlag ist ein Besuch von Campos do Jordão (142 km von Monte Verde entfernt), Monte Verde und Gonçalves. Das wäre dann also eine Reise mit mehr Übernachtungen.

Es ist am besten, Monte Verde mit dem eigenen Fahrzeug zu besuchen, auf diese Weise ist es einfacher, sich in der Stadt und in der Nähe fortzubewegen.

Wir hatten kein Auto, also übernachteten wir in einem Hotel (Roots Hotel) ganz in der Nähe der Avenida Monte Verde. Es gibt Unterkünfte für jeden Geschmack und Geldbeutel.

Es gibt auch schöne Hotels außerhalb der Stadt. Die Stadt hat kein Uber und es gibt nur wenige Taxis (der Taxistand befindet sich auf dem Platz neben der Banco Bradesco).

Obwohl Monte Verde eine kleine Stadt ist, ist es wichtig, beim Überqueren der Straße sehr vorsichtig zu sein. Ich wurde in der Nähe der Banco Bradesco angefahren. Zum Glück habe ich mir nichts gebrochen, aber ich verbrachte etliche Tage mit Rücken- und Knieschmerzen.

Monte Verde – the “Switzerland” of Minas Gerais

Monte Verde is a district of the mining town of Camanducaia and is located 620 km from Belo Horizonte and 166 km from São Paulo, in fact this is the best starting point to get there.

It has a population of about 5000 inhabitants and is located at an altitude of almost 1,600 meters. It grew out of a farm owned by the Latvian immigrant Verner Gringberg. From there, many immigrants from Italy, Russia, Switzerland, Hungary and Germany chose Monte Verde as their second home.

This region is part of the Minas Gerais mountain range. The city is also famous for its winter festival with artistic and cultural attractions.

The way between Camanducaia and Monte Verde is flanked by beautiful landscapes.

The small town attracts many visitors, especially between May and August when temperatures are low, ideal for enjoying a fondue and a hot chocolate. At this time of the year, there are large temperature fluctuations, ranging from 23 C during the day to 11 degrees Celsius at night, for example.

We were in Monte Verde at the end of May and were struck by the amount of people and cars moving around Avenida Monte Verde, the town’s main thoroughfare. On this avenue there are mainly restaurants, bars and souvenir shops.

On a Saturday afternoon around 3:30pm we struggled to find a free table at one of the many local restaurants.

The gastronomy of Monte Verde is characterized by the existence of restaurants offering fondue, German dishes, trout and chocolate, among others, where it is possible to have a hot chocolate.

We had dinner at Casa do Fondue and Fritz Brewery. We had lunch at Confraria Paulistana, with a good selection of German dishes. Many cafes and shopping centers invite you to a visit.

Monte Verde offers places where you can drink excellent craft beers.

The city is also famous for the existence of some hiking trails. The most famous of these is the Pedra Redonda Trail, from which you can enjoy beautiful views of the Serra da Mantiqueira mountains.

We did the short Pinheiro Velho Trail, the entrance of which is in front of the Cláudio Passeios shop. We entered it from the Mirante do Aeroporto viewpoint.

There are several kiosks offering Jeep and ATV tours. There is a city tour offered by most travel agencies that includes the Pedra Redonda Trail and visits to chocolate factories, soap factories, cachaçaria (liquor stores) and a trout farm, among others.

There is also the Itapuá Corredeiras Trail at the hotel of the same name and tours to the Fazenda Radical farm and a falconry.

Monte Verde can be a three night tour option. If you want to take a trip to Gonçalves, another tourist town about 80 km from Monte Verde, an additional night would be advisable.

Another suggested tour is to visit Campos do Jordão (142 km from Monte Verde), Monte Verde and Gonçalves. So that would be a trip with more overnight stays.

It’s best to visit Monte Verde with your own vehicle, in this way it’s easier to get around the city and nearby areas.

We didn’t have a car with us, so we stayed in a hotel (Roots Hotel) very close to Avenida Monte Verde. There is accommodation for every taste and budget.

There are also nice hotels outside the city. The city does not have an Uber and taxis are few and far between (the taxi rank is in the square next to Banco Bradesco).

Although Monte Verde is a small town, it is important to be very careful when crossing the street. I got hit by a car near Banco Bradesco. Luckily I didn’t break anything, but I spent several days with back and knee pain.
