SKAGWAY, PARADA OBRIGATÓRIA DE CRUZEIROS

Skagway é um distrito do estado americano do Alaska e parada obrigatória de muitos cruzeiros, o que aliás, começou em 1924 quando os primeiros navios começaram a permanecer 36 horas para que os turistas pudessem pegar o trem e fazer um passeio de vapor pelo lago Yukon de Carcross até o belo Ben-My-Chree. Os moradores de Skagway aproveitaram a oportunidade para criar um show de variedades para angariar fundos para o Clube de Hockey.

 

Sendo assim, Skagway integra o roteiro de cruzeiros desde muitos anos. Para se ter uma ideia, 31 navios, de diferentes companhias aportaram 400 vezes em Skagway trazendo no total 815.941 passageiros em 2017. Skagway tem 920 habitantes.

 Erich e eu visitamos Skagway na alta temporada de cruzeiros no mês de julho no navio Coral Princess, nesse dia vimos 4 cruzeiros no porto, que fica em frente a área central da cidade.

A cidade é charmosa, acolhedora e bem preparada para receber os turistas.

De Skagway é possível fazer várias excursões bem interessantes:

Visitar o Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park que preserva e interpreta a história da Corrida do Ouro de Klondike de 1897-98. Skagway é conhecida como “Portão de Entrada para Klondike”.

Fazer o passeio de trem na rota White Pass & Yukon, em um antigo trem. Esse percurso tem paisagens deslumbrantes. Essa rota foi usada há muitos anos atrás pelos primeiros exploradores do Alaska.

Fazer o trekking Chilkoot, considerado o “museu ao ar livre mais longo do mundo”, é o começo da rota para as Yukon Goldfields. Ele oferece 33 quilômetros de caminhadas espetaculares desde a maré em Dyea até o Lago Bennett, no Canadá (27,35 km de trilha nos EUA; 25,34 no Canadá), quando soube desse trekking tive muita vontade de caminhar, pelo menos uma parte, mas, isso vai ser programa para uma outra viagem para o Alaska. Mas, Skagway oferece outras opções de caminhada, algumas curtas, como a de Yakutani que tem apenas cerca de 3 km de ida e volta.

Conhecer a tranquila cidade de Dyea, localizada cerca de 13 km de Skagway, outrora muito movimentada na época da corrida de ouro, hoje em dia é bela e tranquila para relaxar.

Conhecer a história da corrida do ouro no Alaska através do passeio chamado “Círculo Dourado”, trata-se de um roteiro com 580 km, que liga as Rodovia Alaska e Haines. A rota irá levá-lo da pitoresca Skagway, no Alasca para a Capital do Yukon, Whitehorse através da Rodovia Klondike. De Whitehorse você vai fazer o seu caminho para o centro da região de Kluane, Haines Junction. De lá, você viajará pelo Parque Nacional Tatshenshini-Alsek e Kluane até Haines, no Alasca. De Haines, você pode voltar para Skagway pela histórica Alaska Marine Highway.

Visitar as geleiras: Harding Glacier, Laughton e Denver. Você pode até tocar nelas. Mas, para isso, recomendo um passeio de helicóptero.

Há também um passeio de barco que você navegar no fiorde mais profundo e longo da América, o Canal Lynn. É possível também andar de caiaque no Lago Fraser ou descer o rio Taya.Se você gosta de passeios que envolvam água, há muitas opções em Skagway.

Se você tiver interesse em conhecer o Alaska, recomendamos que o faça no verão. Se pretender ficar muitos dias em uma localidade, o melhor é chegar de avião. Se quiser apenas ter uma ideia do lugar para depois voltar, se for o caso, recomendamos que viaje em um cruzeiro, há cruzeiros de uma semana, por exemplo.

Alaska é definitivamente um lugar cheio de paisagens deslumbrantes.

SKAGWAY – OBLIGATORISCHER STOP VON KREUZFAHRTEN

Skagway ist einE gEMEINDE des amerikanischen Bundesstaates Alaska und obligatorischer Stopp vieler Kreuzfahrten, was übrigens SCHON 1924 begann, als die ersten Schiffe 36 Stunden blieben, damit die Touristen einen Ausflug mit der Dampfeisenbahn zum Yukon-See bei Carcross  und zum schönen Ben-My-Chree machen konnten.

Die Einwohner von Skagway nutzten diese Gelegenheit, um eine Varieté-Show zu veranstalten, um Spenden für den Hockei Club zu sammeln.

Daher ist Skagway seit so vielen Jahren Teil des Reiseplans für Kreuzfahrten .

Um eine Idee zu geben, 31 verschiedene Schiffe legten 400 mal in Skagway an und brachten 2017 insgesamt 815.941 Passagiere. UND, Skagway hat nur 920 Einwohner!!

Erich und ich besuchten Skagway in der Hochsaison der Kreuzfahrten im Juli auf dem Schiff der Coral Princess, an diesem Tag sahen wir weitere 4 Kreuzfahrtschiffe im Hafen, der gleich gegenüber dem Zentrum der Stadt liegt.

Die Stadt ist charmant, einladend und sehr gut vorbereitet, um Touristen willkommen zu heißen.

Von Skagway aus können Sie einige interessante Ausflüge unternehmen:

Besuchen Sie den Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, der die Geschichte des Klondike Gold Rausches von 1897-98 bewahrt und interpretiert. Skagway ist bekannt als “Gateway to Klondike”.

Machen Sie die Zugfahrt auf der White Pass & Yukon Route mit einem alten Zug. Diese Route offeriert atemberaubende Landschaften. Diese Route wurde vor vielen Jahren auch schon von den ersten Erforschern Alaskas genutzt.

Das Trekking Chilkoot ist das längste Freiluftmuseum der Welt, es ist der Beginn der Route zu den Yukon Goldfields. Es bietet 33 Meilen einer spektakulären Wanderung von den Gezeiten in Dyea zum Lake Bennett in Kanada (27,35 km Trail in den USA, 25,34 in Kanada). Als ich von diesem Trekking erfuhr, war ich sehr daran interessiert, wenigstens einen Teil davon zu wandern, aber das wird wohl Programm für eine weitere Reise nach Alaska sein.

Aber, Skagway bietet andere Wandermöglichkeiten, einige kurze, wie Yakutani, das nur ca. 3 km hin und zurück sind.

Lernen Sie die beschauliche Stadt Dyea kennen, die etwa 13 km von Skagway entfernt liegt. In der Zeit des goldenen Ansturms war sie sehr belebt und heute ist sie wunderschön und ruhig zum Entspannen.

Lernen Sie die Geschichte des Goldrausches in Alaska auf der Fahrt “Goldener Kreis” kennen. Es ist eine 580 Kilometer lange Strecke, die den Alaska- mit dem Haines Highway verbindet. Die Route führt Sie vom malerischen Skagway in Alaska über den Klondike Highway in die Yukon Hauptstadt, Whitehorse. Von Whitehorse aus gelangen Sie in das Zentrum der Region Kluane, Haines Junction. Von dort fahren Sie durch den Tatshenshini-Alsek National Park und Kluane nach Haines, Alaska. Von Haines aus können Sie entlang des historischen Alaska Marine Highway nach Skagway zurückkehren.

Besuchen Sie die Gletscher: Harding Glacier, Laughton und Denver. Du kannst sie sogar anfassen. Aber dafür empfehle ich einen Helikopterflug. Es gibt auch eine Bootsfahrt  auf dem tiefsten und längsten Fjord Amerikas, dem Lynn Channel. Es ist auch möglich, Kajak zu fahren auf dem See Fraser oder den Taya Fluss hinunter.

Falls Sie Aktivitäten mit Wasser mögen, hierzu gibt es viele Möglichkeiten in Skagway.

Falls Sie Alaska kennenlernen möchten empfehlen wir Ihnen, dies im Sommer zu tun. Falls Sie viele Tage an einem  Ort verbringen möchten, dann ist es am besten mit dem Flugzeug anzureisen.

Falls Sie jedoch viele Eindrücke von verschiedenen Orten sammeln möchten, dann empfehlen wir Ihnen eine Kreuzfahrt zum Beispiel für eine Woche.

Skagway is a USA community and a mandatory stop to many cruises, which incidentally began in  1924, when the first ships stayed 36 hours, allowing tourists to take a steam train ride to the Yukon Lake at Carcross and the beautiful place Ben-My-Chree.

Skagway residents took this opportunity to hold a variety show to raise funds for the Hockei Club.

That’s why Skagway has been part of the cruising itinerary for so many years.

To give an idea: 31 different ships landed 400 times in Skagway during 2017 and brought a total of 81,000 passengers. AND, Skagway only has 920 inhabitants!!

Erich and I visited Skagway during the high season of cruises in July on the ship of the Coral Princess, on this day we saw another 4 cruise ships in the harbor, which is just opposite the center of the small city.

The city is charming, inviting and very well prepared to welcome tourists.

From Skagway you can do some interesting excursions:

Visit the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park, which preserves and interprets the history of the Klondike Gold Rush of 1897-98. Skagway is known as Gateway to Klondike.

Take the train ride on the White Pass & Yukon route with an old train. This route offers breathtaking landscapes. This route was also used many years ago by the first explorers of Alaska.

Trekking Chilkoot is the world’s longest open-air museum, marking the beginning of the route to the Yukon Goldfields. It offers 33 miles of a spectacular trek from the tides in Dyea to Lake Bennett in Canada (27.35 km trail in the US, 25.34 in Canada). When I heard about this trekking I became very interested in hiking at least a part of it, but that will probably be the program for another trip to Alaska.

But Skagway offers other hiking opportunities, some short ones, like Yakutani, which are only about 3 km round trip.

Get to know the tranquil city of Dyea, which is about 13 km from Skagway. In the time of the Gold Rush it was very busy and today it is beautiful and quiet to relax.

Get to know the story of the Gold Rush in Alaska on the Golden Circle Tour. It is a 580-kilometer route that connects the Alaska to the Haines Highway. The route will take you from picturesque Skagway in Alaska across the Klondike Highway to the Yukon capital, Whitehorse. From Whitehorse you can reach the center of Kluane, Haines Junction. From there, drive through Tatshenshini-Alsek National Park and Kluane to Haines, Alaska. From Haines you can return to Skagway along the historic Alaska Marine Highway.

Visit the glaciers: Harding Glacier, Laughton and Denver. You can even touch touch. But for that I recommend a helicopter flight. There is also a boat trip on America’s deepest and longest fjord, the Lynn Channel. It is also possible to go kayaking on Lake Fraser or down the Taya River.

If you like water activities, there are many options in Skagway.

If you would like to get to know Alaska we recommend doing so in summer. If you want to spend many days in one place  it is best to arrive by plane.

However, if you want to gather a lot of different impressions from different places, then we recommend a cruise, for example, for one week.

Alaska is definitely a place full of stunning scenarios.
