Desde criança, meu sonho era viajar pelo mundo. Aqui está a parte 3 da nossa aventura única de 66 dias.

No final desse texto apresentamos, através de um filme de fotos algumas impressões das nossas estações em Londres (Inglaterra), Irlanda e Portugal.

Depois de um voo de 8 horas partindo de Dubai, chegamos a Londres, o ponto original oficial de início e fim de nossa circunavegação do mundo, agora também chamada de “RTW”, “Round The World”.

Antes de iniciarmos nossa viagem de volta ao Brasil, fizemos um pequeno desvio para a Irlanda com breves passagens por Dublin e a paisagem selvagem do penhasco em Cliffs of Moher, muito impressionante!

Da Irlanda continuamos em direção a casa com outra pequena parada em Lisboa e divertidas excursões à vizinha Cascais e também a atraente Azenhas do Mar com localização única.

Felizes e cheios de várias impressões do que havíamos vivido e visto em 11 países e um total de 29 destinos de viagem visitados individualmente e acima de tudo saudáveis, finalmente chegamos em casa em Natal, sem saber que muito em breve uma pandemia indescritível iria impedir qualquer atividade de viagem por muito tempo.

Seit meinen Kindheitstagen war es mein Traum, einmal eine Weltreise zu machen. Hier nun der Teil 3 unseres 66tägigen einzigartigen Abenteuers.

Ein weiterer Foto-Film möchte Ihnen nun einige Eindrücke auf unseren Stationen in London (England), Irland und Portugal vermitteln.

Von Dubai aus gelangten wir nach einem 8- stündigen Flug nach London, dem ursprünglichen offiziellen Start- und Zielpunkt unserer Weltumrundung, hier nun auch „RTW“ genannt, „Round The World“.

Anbei einige Zahlen als Orientierungshilfe.

In London verbrachten wir einige Tage zum Entspannen und Relaxen, mehr hierzu finden Sie hier.

Bevor wir uns auf die Heimreise nach Brasilien begaben, machten wir noch einen kleinen Abstecher nach Irland mit Kurzbesuchen in Dublin, siehe hier,und der wilden Klippenlandschaft in Cliffs of Moher, sehr beeindruckend!

Von Irland aus ging es weiter in Richtung Heimat mit einem nochmaligen kurzen Stopp in Lissabon und kurzweiligen Ausflügen in das nahegelegene Cascais

und auch das attraktive einmalig gelegene Azenhas do Mar.

Glücklich und voller diverser Eindrücke vom Erlebten und Gesehenen in 11 Ländern und insgesamt 29 individuellen besuchten Reisezielen und/aber v.a. gesund kamen wir schließlich wieder in Natal, zuhause, an, nichtsahnend, dass sehr bald eine unsägliche Pandemie jegliche Reiseaktivität für sehr lange Zeit komplett verhindern würde.

Ever since I was a child, it has been my dream to travel around the world. Here is part 3 of our 66-day unique adventure.

Another PhotoFilm would now like to give you some impressions of our stations in London (England), Ireland and Portugal.

After an 8-hour flight from Dubai, we arrived in London, the original official start and end point of our circumnavigation of the world, here now also called “RTW”, “Round The World”.

Here are some numbers as a guide:

Before we started our journey home to Brazil, we made a small detour to Ireland with short visits to Dublin, see here, and the wild cliff landscape at Cliffs of Moher, very impressive!

From Ireland we continued towards home with another short stop in Lisbon and entertaining excursions to nearby Cascais and also the attractive uniquely located Azenhas do Mar.

Happy and full of various impressions of what we had experienced and seen in 11 countries and a total of 29 individually visited travel destinations and/or above all healthy, we finally arrived back at home in Natal, unaware that very soon an unspeakable pandemic would completely prevent any travel activity for a very long time.

A Volta ao Mundo em 66 Dias – Parte 1/Einmal um die Welt in 66 Tagen – Teil 1/ Around the World in 66 Days – Part 1

Desde criança meu sonho era viajar pelo mundo, principalmente inspirado nos filmes de aventura de Júlio Verne.

Finalmente, aos 63 anos, pude realizar esse sonho com a Márcia e ficamos extremamente felizes que esse projeto de viagem pelo mundo pudesse acontecer antes da pandemia e pudéssemos começar e terminar a viagem conforme planejado.

Em 3 partes queremos partilhar com vocês algumas impressões visuais desta viagem de aventura, experiências com diferentes culturas, línguas, religiões, zonas climáticas, paisagens e sobretudo pessoas.

Antes de iniciarmos essa viagem em Londres passamos alguns dias em Munique com amigos e familiares em 2018. De Londres voamos para Santiago no Chile em um voo que durou 15 horas. Descansamos um pouco na capital chilena e de lá seguimos, em um voo que durou 5 horas, para a impressionante Ilha de Páscoa (Rapa Nui) com seus sítios arqueológicos onde se encontram Moais, aquelas esculturas colossais feitas de blocos monolíticos de pedra.

Passamos 3 noites e 4 dias na ilha. Com um carro alugado foi muito fácil visitar todos os pontos turísticos.

De Rapa Nui a viagem nos levou em um voo de 6 horas até Papeete no Tahiti, puro exotismo, florestas tropicais, cachoeiras, flores, jardins aquáticos, cavernas e gente simpática.

Depois de mais 6 horas de voo chegamos em Auckland, na Nova Zelândia, que eu acho um país muito fascinante. Primeiro exploramos a cidade e realizamos excursões pela cidade, depois fizemos o check-in em um navio de cruzeiro que primeiro nos levou a vários pontos turísticos do país, seguido de uma travessia para a Austrália.

Esta viagem marítima foi para nós um momento muito especial, pois significou poder celebrar o Natal em alto mar em 2018, uma experiência brilhante.

Este cruzeiro de 12 dias teve paradas com várias excursões em terra nos seguintes portos/lugares: Tauranga, Akaroa, Dunedin, Fiordland National Park, depois Hobart na Tasmânia na Austrália, Melbourne e finalmente Sydney, onde também pudemos celebrar o Novo Ano de 2019.

De Sydney visitamos as Blue Mountains e depois via Alice Springs passamos alguns dias em Uluru, local da  misteriosa e impressionante Ayers Rock no centro da Austrália.

Novamente de Alice Springs a viagem nos levou via Perth a Cingapura, para nós uma das metrópoles mais impressionantes da Ásia.

Einmal um die Welt in 66 Tagen – Teil 1

Seit meinen Kindheitstagen war es mein Traum, einmal eine Weltreise zu machen, v.a. damals inspiriert durch die Abenteuerfilme von Jules Verne.

Nun letztendlich mit 63 Jahren konnte ich diesen Traum mit Marcia realisieren und worüber wir extrem glücklich waren und bis heute sind, dass dieses Weltreiseprojekt noch vor der unsäglichen Pandemie stattfinden konnte und wir die Reise so wie geplant beginnen und auch beenden konnten.

In 3 Teilen möchten wir nun mit Ihnen einige visuelle Impressionen dieses abenteuerlichen Trips teilen, Erfahrungen mit unterschiedlichen Kulturen, Sprachen, Religionen, Klimazonen, Landschaften und v.a. Menschen.

In München genossen wir dann also im Jahr 2018 noch ein paar vorweihnachtliche Tage mit Freunden und Familie, bevor es dann in London begann mit einem 15 stündigen Flug nach Santiago de Chile, einer kurzen Ruhepause und Weiterflug (5 Stunden) auf die beeindruckenden Osterinseln  (Rapa Nui) mit ihren archäologischen Stätten, wo sich die meisten Moas befinden, diese kolossalen Skulpturen aus monolithischen Steinblöcken.

Wir haben 3 Nächte und 4 Tage auf der Insel zugebracht. Mit dem gemieteten  Auto war es sehr einfach, all die Sehenswürdigkeiten zu besuchen.

Von Rapa Nui aus führte uns die Reise in einem 6 stündigen Flug nach Papeete auf Tahiti, Exotik pur, tropischen Wäldern, Wasserfällen, Blumen, Wassergärten, Höhlen und freundlichen Menschen.

Nach einem weiteren etwa 6 stündiger Flug kamen wir in Auckland auf Neuseeland an, ein, wie ich meine, sehr faszinierendes Land. Zunächst erkundeten wir die Stadt und machten Ausflüge im Umfeld der Stadt, dann checkten wir auf einem Kreuzfahrtschiff ein, das uns zunächst zu verschiedenen touristischen Höhepunkten des Landes brachte mit anschließender Überfahrt nach Australien.

Diese Seereise war für uns ein ganz besonderes Highlight, da es für uns bedeutete, dieses 2018 Weihnachten auf hoher See feiern zu dürfen, ein geniales Erlebnis.

Diese 12 tägige Kreuzfahrt hatte in folgenden Häfen/Orten Stopps mit diversen Landausflugsmöglichkeiten: Tauranga, Akaroa, Dunedin, Fiordland National Park, dann Hobart auf Tasmanien in Australien, Melbourne und schließlich Sydney, wo wir dann auch in das Neue Jahr 2019 hineinfeiern durften.

Von Sydney aus besuchten wir die Blue Mountains und dann verbrachten wir via Alice Springs einige Tage in Uluru, diesem geheimnisumwitterten und sehr beeindruckenden Ayers Rock im Zentrum Australiens.

Wieder von Alice Springs aus führte uns dann die Reise via Perth nach Singapur, für uns eine der imposantesten Metropolen Asiens auf unserem Planeten.

 Around the World in 66 Days – Part 1

Ever since I was a child it has been my dream to travel around the world, mainly inspired by Jules Verne’s adventure films.

Finally, at the age of 63, I was able to realize this dream with Marcia and we were extremely happy  that this world travel project could take place before the unspeakable pandemic and we were able to start and end the trip as planned.

In 3 parts we would like to share with you some visual impressions of this adventurous trip, experiences with different cultures, languages, religions, climate zones, landscapes and above all people.

So in Munich we enjoyed a few more pre-Christmas days with friends and family in 2018, before we started in London with a 15-hour flight to Santiago de Chile, a short rest and a further flight (5 hours) to the impressive Easter Island (Rapa Nui) with its archeological sites where most of the Moas are found, those colossal sculptures made from monolithic blocks of stone.

We spent 3 nights and 4 days on the island. With the rented car it was very easy to visit all the sights.

From Rapa Nui the journey took us in a 6-hour flight to Papeete in Tahiti, pure exoticism, tropical forests, waterfalls, flowers, water gardens, caves and friendly people.

After another 6 hour flight we arrived in Auckland, New Zealand, which I think is a very fascinating country. First we explored the city and made excursions around the city, then we checked in on a cruise ship that first took us to various tourist highlights in the country, followed by a crossing to Australia.

This sea voyage was a very special highlight for us, as it meant being able to celebrate Christmas on the high seas in 2018, a brilliant experience.

This 12-day cruise had stops with various shore excursion options in the following ports/places: Tauranga, Akaroa, Dunedin, Fiordland National Park, then Hobart on Tasmania in Australia, Melbourne and finally Sydney, where we were also allowed to celebrate the New Year 2019.

From Sydney we visited the Blue Mountains and then via Alice Springs we spent a few days in Uluru, this mysterious and very impressive Ayers Rock in central Australia.

Again from Alice Springs, the journey took us via Perth to Singapore, for us one of the most impressive metropolises in Asia on our planet.

Londres é uma cidade com mais de oito milhões de habitantes, charmosa e com muitos atrativos.

Acreditamos que é uma cidade para você conhecer por partes e com tranquilidade.  Foi nessa cidade onde iniciamos e terminamos nossa viagem de volta ao mundo, veja o post sobre essa viagem aqui.

Neste post vamos enfatizar a nossa experiência em se locomover em Londres usando o cartão Oyster no transporte público.

Sempre que chegamos em uma nova cidade gostamos de usar no primeiro dia um ônibus tipo hop on hof. Porém, no caso de Londres, foi diferente. Erich já havia visitado a cidade quase quarenta vezes, sempre à trabalho e eu não a conhecia ainda. Além disso, visitamos Londres em janeiro, inverno, quando muitos dias são cinza, pode chover e nevar. Por isso, optamos por não usar os ônibus de turismo, aliás, vi três desses ônibus de companhias diferentes.

Sendo assim, relacionamos os lugares que gostaríamos de visitar e o fizemos usamos o metrô, que é chamado e sinalizado como “underground”.

Como permanecemos em Londres menos que uma semana, a melhor opção para nos deslocarmos em transporte público foi o cartão Oyester.

Como funciona:

Você pode comprar diretamente nas máquinas localizadas nos metrôs, nos centros de visitantes, em todas as estações de metrô, na Tamlink Shop, na Croydon. Esse cartão, quando você vai comprar, você escolhe como usar, ele pode ser usado para ônibus e bonde, para metro, para fazer viagens e se você quer pagar conforme vai usando-o.

O cartão custa cinco pounds e você acrescenta os créditos que quiser e precisar. Nós primeiro compramos vinte pounds de crédito e depois acrescentamos mais. Caso você não use todos os créditos, você pode receber de volta, depois de 48horas. Nós preferimos guardar o cartão Oyester porque os créditos não expiram e podemos usar quando voltarmos, pois, quando a pandemia terminar, vamos voltar ao nosso ritmo constante de viagens.

London – Fortbewegung – unsere Erfahrung mit der Oyster Card

London ist eine Stadt mit mehr als acht Millionen Einwohnern, charmant und mit vielen Attraktionen.

Wir glauben, dass es eine Stadt ist, die man teilweise und in Ruhe entdecken kann.  In dieser Stadt haben wir unsere Weltreise begonnen und beendet, siehe auch den Beitrag über diese Reise hier.

In diesem Post werden wir Ihnen nun unsere Erfahrungen bezüglich der Fortbewegung in London mit der Oyster Card und den öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln vorstellen.

Immer wenn wir in einer neuen Stadt ankommen, nutzen wir normalerweise am ersten Tag gerne einen Hop-On-Hop-Of-Bus. Im Fall von London war es jedoch anders. Erich hatte die Stadt fast vierzig Mal besucht, immer geschäftlich und ich kannte ihn damals noch nicht. Außerdem besuchten wir London schon im Januar im Winter, dann, wenn viele Tage grau sind, es regnen und sogar schneien kann.

Deshalb haben wir uns entschieden, dieses Mal die Touristenbusse nicht zu benutzen, tatsächlich aber habe ich drei dieser Busse von verschiedenen Unternehmen gesehen.

Daher haben wir uns die Orte aufgelistet, die wir besuchen wollten und zwar mit der U-Bahn, die als „UNDERGROUND“ bezeichnet und signalisiert wird.

Da wir weniger als eine Woche in London waren, war dies die beste Möglichkeit, mit öffentlichen Verkehrsmitteln herum zu reisen, die Oyester Card.

Wie funktioniert dies:

Sie können direkt an den Automaten in den U-Bahnen, in Besucherzentren, in allen U-Bahn-Stationen, im Tamlink-Shop in Croydon einkaufen. Falls Sie diese Karte kaufen, wählen Sie, wie Sie sie verwenden möchten, sie kann für Bus und Straßenbahn, für die U-Bahn, für Reisen und wie Sie zu zahlen beabsichtigen je nach Verwendung.

Die Karte kostet fünf Pfund und Sie fügen so viele Credits hinzu, wie Sie möchten und benötigen. Wir kauften zuerst für zwanzig Pfund Kredit und fügten dann jeweils weitere hinzu. Falls Sie nicht alle Credits aufbrauchen, können Sie diese nach 48 Stunden zurückerstattet bekommen.

Wir zogen es vor, die Oyester-Karte zu behalten, da das Guthaben nicht verfällt und wir sie bei einer Rückkehr nach London wieder verwenden können, was wir nach Ende der Pandemie wohl wieder früher oder später tun werden.

London – Getting Around – Our Oyster Card Experience

London is a city of over eight million people, charming and full of attractions.

We believe that it is a city that can be explored partially and in peace.  In this city we started and ended our world trip, see also the article about this trip here.

In this post we will now share our experiences with getting around in London with the Oyster card and public transport.

Whenever we arrive in a new city we usually like to use a hop-on, hop-of bus on the first day. In the case of London, however, it was different. Erich had visited the city almost forty times, always on business, and I didn’t know him then. We also visited London in winter in January when many days are gray, it can rain and even snow.

So we decided not to use the tourist buses this time, but in fact I saw three of these buses from different companies.

Therefore we have listed the places that we wanted to visit and that with the subway, which is designated and signaled as “UNDERGROUND“.

Since we were in London for less than a week this was the best way to get around using public transport, the Oyester Card.

How does this work:

You can buy directly from the machines in the subways, in visitor centers, in all subway stations, in the Tamlink shop in Croydon. In the event that you purchase this card, choose how you want to use it, it can be for buses and trams, for the subway, for travel and how you intend to pay depending on how you use it.

The card costs five pounds and you add as many credits as you want and need. We bought credits for twenty pounds first and then added more at a time. If you do not use up all credits, you can get them refunded after 48 hours.

We preferred to keep the Oyester card as the balance does not expire and we can use it again when we return to London, what we will probably do again sooner or later after the pandemic ends.

PONTOS ALTOS DE UM SONHO DE INFÂNCIA – PARTE III/ HÖHEPUNKTE EINES KINDHEITSTRAUMES – PART 3/HIGLIGHTS OF A CHILDHOOD DREAM – PART 3

De Cingapura nossa viagem nos levou, via Kuala Lumpur para outro exótico destino, Kathmandu no Nepal.

Foi uma experiência completamente nova para nós, quase um choque, assustador, medo e ao mesmo tempo estávamos absolutamente curiosos para conhecer, para saber que conhecimentos e impressões essa parte do mundo iria nos apresentar.

Depois de todas as diferentes impressões geográficas, climáticas e culturais em nossa jornada até agora, um mundo totalmente novo nos esperava aqui com seu trânsito caótico, barulho, sujeira, as consequências ainda visíveis do devastador terremoto,

em todos os lugares para não ser negligenciado improvisações de cabo,

poluição e também muita pobreza. O vídeo a seguir apresenta essas primeiras impressões.

No entanto, este país, que parece ter um “caos organizado” para nós, ofereceu um charme oculto e agradável. Eu suponho que a aura do budismo prevalecente com seus templos,

A Stupa com sua atmosfera de paz,

impondo manifestações religiosas,

as velhas cidades históricas

e, finalmente, o comportamento do próprio povo pode ser o fator decisivo, mas todo mundo realmente precisa avaliar isso por si mesmo.

O destaque maior da visita ao Nepal foi o voo panorâmico para apreciar a Cordilheira do Himalaia com vistas incríveis do mais alto pico do mundo, o Monte Everest..um experiência inesquecível!

Depois desses dias agitados e emocionantes em Katmandu e no Nepal, não perdi a oportunidade de desfrutar de uma cerveja do Everest antes de partirmos.

Nosso tour nos levou aos Emiratos Árabes Unidos, um grande contraste em termos de clima, religião, progresso, riqueza, arquitetura e orientação futura, o que é totalmente inimaginável para o Nepal.

Da janela do nosso hotel em Dubai pudemos avistar o BURJ KHALIFA,

o arranha-céu mais alto desta terra com 828 metros de altura. Em 55 segundos, você será catapultado para os decks de observação nos andares 124 e 148 com os percursos de elevadores mais longos do mundo,

de onde você pode desfrutar de uma vista deslumbrante de 360o como de um avião.

Muito impressionante também a Fonte de Dubai, água e música em perfeita harmonia em frente a um cenário arquitetônico e futurista sensacional.

Dubai fascina com todas as suas atrações, inovações e projetos, não é a minha primeira visita aqui e Marcia e eu temos certeza de visitar Dubai após a EXPO 2020 novamente para se surpreender … progresso PURO.

Num futuro próximo, nos concentraremos mais em Dubai em um post exclusivo onde  apresentaremos nossas impressões com mais detalhes.

Nós também fizemos uma viagem de um dia para Abu Dhabi,

Demos uma olhada rápida no Museu do Louvre Abu Dhabi e Marcia ficou muito impressionada com o esplendor do interior da Grande Mesquita Sheikh Zayed.

Os Emirados Árabes Unidos foram a última parada antes de retornarmos ao ponto de partida de nossa viagem de volta ao mundo, em Londres,

Estamos felizes por todas as aventuras que vivemos neste tour massivo. Também estamos muito contentes por termos feito toda a viagem em condições saudáveis e adequadas. Foi um sentimento estranho voltar ao ponto de partida.

Uma olhada no mapa do mundo com nossa rota nos deixa com uma certa gratidão

e um pouco orgulhosos.

Meu sonho de criança finalmente se tornou realidade.

HÖHEPUNKTE EINES KINDHEITSTRAUMES PART 3

Von Singapur aus führte uns unsere Reise via Kuala Lumpur zu einem weiteren und dazu sehr fremden und für uns exotisch anmutenden Reiseziel, Kathmandu in Nepal.

Es war für uns eine komplette neue Erfahrung, fast schockierend, erschreckend, angsteinflöβend und gleichzeitig absolut neugierig machend, was wohl dieser Teil unserer Erde uns an Erkenntnissen und Eindrücken bescheren werden würde.

Nach all den unterschiedlichen geographischen, klimatischen und kulturellen Eindrücken auf unserer bisherigen Reise erwartete uns hier nun eine ganz andere neue Welt mit chaotischem Verkehr, Lärm, Schmutz, den noch sichtbaren Folgen des verheerenden Erdbebens,

den überall nicht zu übersehenden Kabel-Improvisationen,

Smog und auch sehr viel Armut. Das folgende Video mag diese ersten Eindrücke zu visualisieren versuchen.

Trotzdem offerierte dieses für uns als so „organisiertes Chaos“ erscheinende Land einen verborgenen, angenehmen Charme. Ich würde vermuten, daβ die Aura des vorherrschenden Buddhismus mit seinen Tempelanlagen,

Stupen mit ihrer friedlichen Atmosphäre,

imposanten religiösen Manifestationen,

die alten historischen Städte

und schlieβlich den Verhaltensweisen der Menschen selbst hierfür den Ausschlag geben könnten, aber dies muβ wirklich jeder für sich selbst abschlieβend bewerten.

Der absolute Höhepunkt hier in Nepal war für uns jedoch der Flug entlang der Himalaya-Gebirgs-Riesen-Kette mit unglaublichen Ausblicken auf den höchsten Berg dieser Welt, den Mount Everest… ein einfach geniales, unvergessliches Erlebnis.

Nach diesen erlebnisreichen, aufregenden Tagen in Kathmandu und Nepal lieβ ich mir es nicht entgehen, noch vor unserer Weiterreise ein Everest Bier genossen zu haben.

Unsere Tour führte uns nun in die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate, ein gröβerer Kontrast bezüglich Klima, Religion, Fortschritt, Reichtum, Architektur und Zukunftsorientierung ist nach Nepal absolut nicht vorstellbar.

Von unserem Hotelfenster aus in Dubai konnten wir den BURJ KHALIFA sehen,

 der höchste Wolkenkratzer dieser Erde mit 828 Metern Höhe. In 55 Sekunden wird man dann quasi mit den weltweit längsten Aufzügen zu den Aussichtsplattformen in der 124. bzw. 148. Etage hochkatapultiert,

von wo aus man dann wie aus einem Flugzeug eine atemberaubende 360o Aussicht genieβen kann.

 Sehr beeindruckend auch die Dubai Fountain, Wasser und Musik in perfektem Einklang vor einer imposanten architektonischen und futuristischen Kulisse.

Dubai fasziniert mit all seinen Attraktionen und Innovationen und Projekten, es ist nicht mein erster Besuch hier und Marcia und Ich sind uns sicher, Dubai nach der EXPO 2020 wieder zu besuchen, um zu staunen…Fortschritt PUR.

Wir machten auch einen Tagesausflug nach Abu Dhabi,

warfen dort einen kurzen Blick auf das Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi und Marcia war sehr begeistert von dem Prunk der Innenausstattung der Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

Die Vereinigten Arabischen Emirate waren die letzte Station bevor wir zum Ausgangspunkt unserer Weltumrundung, London, zurückkehrten,

es war Ende November 2018 als wir in Brasilien aufbrachen, nun haben wir Ende Januar 2019.

Uns beherrscht nun ein sehr glückliches Gefühl bezüglich all unseren Abenteuern, die wir auf dieser gewaltigen Tour erlebten und v.a. dominiert das Gefühl, alles gesund und fit erlebt haben zu können.

Es war ein ganz sonderbares Gefühl genau wieder da zu sein, wo alles begonnen hatte.

Ein Blick auf die Weltkarte mit unserer Route lässt in uns eine gewisse Dankbarkeit

und auch ein biβchen Stolz aufkommen.

Mein lang gehegter Kindheits- und Jugendtraum ist schlieβlich in Erfüllung gegangen.

HIGLIGHTS OF A CHILDHOOD DREAM – PART 3

From Singapore our trip took us via Kuala Lumpur to another, foreign and exotic destination, Kathmandu in Nepal.

It was a complete new experience for us, almost shocking, frightening, scary and at the same time we were  absolutely curious to know, what knowledge and impressions probably this part oft he world will present to us.

After all the different geographic, climatic and cultural impressions on our journey so far, a whole new world awaited us here with ist chaotic traffic, noise, dirt, the still visible consequences of the devastating earthquake,

the everywhere not to be overlooked cable improvisations,

smog and also a lot of poverty. The following video may try to visualize these first impressions.

Nevertheless, this country, which seems so “organized chaos” to us, offered a hidden, pleasant charm. I would suppose that the aura of the prevailing Buddhism with its temples,

The  Stupen with their peaceful atmosphere,

imposing religious manifestations,

the old historical cities

and finally, the behavior of people themselves could be the deciding factor, but everyone really needs to evaluate this for him-/herselves.

The absolute highlight here in Nepal, however, was for us the flight along the Himalayan Mountain Giant chain with incredible views of the highest mountain in the world, Mount Everest … an simply ingenious, unforgettable experience.

After these eventful, exciting days in Kathmandu and Nepal I did not miss the chance to enjoy an Everest beer before we left.

Our tour took us now to the United Arab Emirates, a greater contrast in terms of climate, religion, progress, wealth, architecture and future orientation is absolutely unimaginable to Nepal.

From our hotel window in Dubai we could see the BURJ KHALIFA,

 the highest skyscraper of this earth with 828 meters height. In 55 seconds you will be catapulted to the observation decks on the 124th and 148th floors with the world’s longest lifts,

from where you can enjoy a breathtaking 360o view like from a plane.

Very impressive also the Dubai Fountain, water and music in perfect harmony in front of an impressive architectural and futuristic backdrop.

Dubai fascinates with all its attractions, innovations and projects, it is not my first visit here and Marcia and myself are sure to visit Dubai after the EXPO 2020 again to be amazed … progress PUR.

We also made a day trip to Abu Dhabi,

threw a quick look at the Louvre Museum Abu Dhabi and Marcia was very impressed by the splendor of the interior of the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque.

The United Arab Emirates were the last stop before we returned to the starting point of our round the world trip, London,

it was the end of November 2018 when we left Brazil, now we have the end of January 2019.

We now have a very happy feeling about all of our adventures that we experienced on this massive tour.  We are also very glad having done the all tour in healthy and fit conditions.

It was a very strange feeling to be back where everything had started.

A look at the world map with our route leaves us with a certain gratitude

and also a little bit of pride.

My long cherished childhood and youth dream finally came true.
